The Christopher Spartz Fall Showcase has been an annual must stop for PrepHoopsIllinois! This event has seen prospects emerge and take their games to another level each year. Here we break down the junior prospects in Spartz Fall Showcase: 2021 Evaluations!

SF John Poulakidas (Neuqua Valley – 2021)

In a gym full of players that will play at the next level this junior was head and shoulders above the rest in terms of being the top prospect in the house. The #6 2021 prospect in the state is a rangy left handed small forward that has a dynamic game. His biggest asset is his three point shooting. Poulakidas drilled shots pulling up from really deep along with stop and pop mid-range shots. Love how he gets elevation off the floor and is always balanced when he lets it fly. The overall development of his game as a complete player has been predicated on his improved athleticism. Over the last year his athletic pop has made great strides which has allowed him to score better off the bounce, rebound at a higher rate, and improve a great deal defensively.

C Henry Krzyzewski (Metea Valley – 2021)

This junior big man was the tallest prospect at the event listed at 6’9”. Well-built five man that is a physical player. Like what he brings to the table as a rebounder snatching boards out of the air. Good offensive rebounder that scores on second chance opportunities. Did stretch it out one time to hit a three, but for the most part did his damage around the hoop.

SG Kendall Brasfield (Curie – 2021)

This Curie junior shooting guard is going to make a name for himself this upcoming season. Like what this 6’0” guard brought to the table as he was extremely slick slashing to the rim for scores. Handles well through traffic. Capable shooter that stopped and popped from mid-range and extended on occasion out to three.

SG Ricky Woods (Washington – 2021)

Woods was one of the breakout stars of the night. This 6’3” two guard has a great build with a strong upper body and plus athleticism. He was dynamic attacking off the bounce scoring absolutely at will going downhill time after time. He had an explosive burst getting to the cup where he finished great through and around contact. Had several acrobatic layups. Worked well around ball screens both scoring and made several solid passes off the screen. Proved to be a capable shooter. Like what he did defensively with his intensity and rebounded very well for a guard. Huge night for this young man.

SG Jackson Yates (St. Ignatius – 2021)

Long and rangy wing plays bigger than his 6’3” height. He ran the floor well throughout the night scoring several times in transition. His biggest potential comes in his shooting from three.

SG Jimmy Dohoney (Guerin Prep – 2021)

This 6’3” left handed two guard is a tough kid that can knock down a mid-range shot and was a crafty finisher.

SG Connor Davis (Neuqua Valley – 2021)

Davis is a big 6’5” shooting guard that has great size for position along with strength. The Neuqua Valley wing has been known throughout his career mostly as a spot up shooter. What I liked most about his performance was what he did in other areas. Showed to be a much improved passer. He was great in the drive and kick game along with finding his big man several times for dump offs. Athleticism continues to improve and he had several nifty layups in the paint. Quality rebounder for a wing.

SG Jadyn Benson (Mt. Carmel – 2021)

Benson is an upside wing at 6’5”. Long and lanky frame with a ton of projectability. He is starting to come into his own and flashing some of the potential that we have seen over the years. Best in transition as a finisher and is a slick passer as well.

PF Danny Mulcare (Glenbard West – 2021)

Mulcare is a face up four man at 6’6” with a good frame. He isn’t the most athletic, but used his toughness rebounding in traffic and was a solid shooter when spotting up for threes.
