Predicting All-Star Teams for 4A/3A Colorado 8 League

We have wanted to see what area of the state has had the best talent and by doing that we have taken a look at some of the best conferences.

We have designed our “All-Area All-Star Teams” and have taken a look at a couple of leagues already, but one we have not looked at that appears to be wide open is the 4A/3A Colorado 8 league that is filled with some under the radar standouts that are waiting to jump on the scene. Let’s take a look.

First Team:

PG: Landon Wallace -- Conifer -- Sr.

Vision is the word that best describes Wallace as he is one of the best passers in the entire state. He was one of the top in the nation and that is without having an elite scorer that carried the load which tells you just how involved he is offensively and how he can create plays for himself. This offseason we have gotten to see him play a few times and we liked what we seen from a true point guard stand point. The next step in his maturation is taking over the games as a scorer as well as he is easily the top player in the conference that can take it up a notch. Big year coming for him.

SG: Elijah Mullett -- Fort Lupton -- Sr.

Mullett is a guard who consistently showed up when his team needed as a source of energy as well as scoring for Fort Lupton last season. He put up 14 points a game while also showing that he was able to shoot the ball, take over ball handling duties and also help on the boards as well. He is a two-way player that brought the best out of his teammates. He is a shot-creator that let it fly no matter who was in front of him, finished at the rim with tough floaters and also had his will inside as a penetrator.

SF: Nate Gravagno -- Englewood -- Jr.

Gravagno was one of the better underclass scorers in the entire conference and league as he put up 17 points a game as only a sophomore and is looking to up those numbers in his junior season. He also put up four rebounds a game and showed that he is a complete player that can open things up for himself as well as teammates. He was one of the bright spots on a struggling team that scored with ease and put up some big numbers last season. This has to be a year where he jumps on more radars and shows that it is not only the league that he is taking over in.

SF/PF: Isaac Medrano --Englewood -- Jr.

Medrano is a player that had a great sophomore season that will look to turn things up another notch this season. He put up eight points and six rebounds a game and also was a presence inside on the defensive end as he was at nearly two blocks a game as well. Medrano will have to show that he is able to not only keep those things up but do more as he will be a focal point of the offense and the anchor defensively as well.

C: Cayden Mazurek -- Riverdale Ridge -- Jr.

Mazurek is a player who plays above his size. He averaged a double-double last season as an athletic rebounder that runs down the boards. He has good positioning and understands where the ball is going to go and is able to start the break himself or find the outlet man. Mazurek is a multi-sport athlete that uses those skills from the gridiron on the court and has him as an entertaining player to follow moving forward.

Bench

Guard: Elijah Cook -- Conifer -- Sr.

Cook is another guard that was forced to play off-ball with Wallace on the team as one of the better set up guards in the state and that gave Cook multiple easy baskets. He put up 10 points a game and showed that he is a knockdown shooter that has to be respected the moment that he crosses half-court. He can create for himself and also finds creases in the defense. This should be a year that he gets going a bit more.

Guard: Noah Sena -- Weld Central -- Sr.

Weld Central was not an exciting team to follow last year, plain and simple, but that does not mean that they did not have a few pieces to build around as they attempt to right the ship and Sena is one of them. Sena was a player that was force-fed the ball but showed up every single time. He put up 17 points a game despite being the player circled for opposing teams and what is shocking is how efficient he remained. If Weld Central can start winning games it will be on the heels of their scoring guard and he needs to make a name for himself now.
