Here is a look at some 2020 Florida athletes who are flying under the radar with some starting to gain some traction.
ICYMI: Part 1
Sadeem Blake (Ocoee)
2020 6’1″ guard Sadeem Blake is someone to keep a close eye on as a senior. He was a standout playmaker for Ocoee as a junior and brings a calming presence to any offense. Blake’s athleticness, strong-willed play and determination will go a long way this season. Look for Division II and NAIA schools to reach out to him sooner rather than later.
Chandler Mack (Dillard)
Dillard always has super talented guards and 2020 6’3″ Chandler Mack is a steady presence who came over last season from South Broward. He will help the cause for the always state contenders. Mack is quick, strong, decisive and full of leadership. Low Division I programs and Division II schools should be all over him.
Reagan Weiss (Plant)
A lengthy 2020 forward, Reagan Weiss is a big piece for Plant at 6’6″ with his frame and versatility. Weiss has been a good shooter for years now and he’s grown as an attacker and a leader in that sense. If Weiss can tack on more muscle and grab more boards this season, he will get plenty of college interest from low Division I, Division II and Division III schools.
Gyasi Powell (Bishop Snyder)
There is a clear path to college basketball for 2020 6’2″ Bishop Snyder guard Gyasi Powell. He had a steady junior campaign and with a larger role as a vocal senior leader in place, he should thrive. The few times I’ve seen Powell this summer in team and elite camps and showcases, he has been rock solid. Powell has been drawing looks from Division II programs which include St. Leo and I think his athleticism should help him land in the Sunshine State Conference.
Jake Brazinski (Newsome)
This is an essential season for 2020 6’3″ Newsome guard Jake Brazinski, who grew leaps and bounds as a leader on both ends of the floor a season ago. He is a notably solid shooter and his length and IQ help him plenty. Brazinski should attract a lot of Division III and NAIA programs this fall.
