Preseason Player of the Year: 2020 Marvin Hughes, McGavock

Take your pick of any of three young men for the POY honor, you can't really go wrong. Brandon Miller, the 2022 with potential, Marvin "The Vet" Hughes, or Ryan Wilcox starring as a high-flying senior wing forward. The pick is Marvin because there is a steadiness to his game. Hughes might not be the incredibly, long, agile wing that Brandon Miller is and will be. Still, Hughes seemingly never has a poor game. Miller will have a sprinkling of mediocre games throughout his three month season. Wilcox is a highlight factory and yet he will probably score less than 10 points here and there. Production reins and Marvin Hughes is the @PrepHoopsTN 6AAA Preseason Player of the Year.

2022 Brandon Miller, Cane Ridge

The highest ceiling in the region belongs to Brandon Miller. Kentucky made an evaluation last month and he will ultimately be able to pick from just about any school in the nation. He still needs one more season before he collects Player of the Year...I think.

Certain to set school record for points. Incredible, powerful lead guard.

2020 Ryan Wilcox, Hillsboro

Wilcox will make the biggest improvement in his stats from 2019 to 2020, as his body is completely healed now. The athleticism is now obscene and high school defenses will only stop him by creating a wall.

2022 Destin Wade, Summit

Physical. Active. Versatile scorer.

2021 Jaylen Pegues, Hillsboro

Started since his freshman season. Hillsboro lands two players on the First-Team All-Region.

Near misses are the cost of doing business in the ranking world. Know that hours were invested in watching film, talking to coaches, and simply leaning on hunches. Though they missed the Honorable Mention cutoff, these players were considered until the end.
2021 Tony Thompson, Cane Ridge
2021 Caleb Wilson, Cane Ridge
2020 Derek Murphy, Overton
