Ritz, of Kearney, is a hard-nosed player who brings intensity and toughness to the court.
“I would describe my game as nothing but dedication, I go out every game playing my hardest I can play,” he said. “I really appreciate the chance that God has given me to play basketball with all my great teammates.
“I feel like what I do well is I create a lot of really good chances for my teammates to score and I pressure the other teams a lot on defense. I also feel like I have the ability to score.”
He has spent the summer working on decreasing his turnovers, hoping to limit them to one or two per game, but says he has been focused on improving all aspects of his game.
“I feel like everyone can get better at everything they do, even if they’re already really good at it,” he said.
Ritz tries to pattern his game after the Los Angeles Clippers’ Chris Paul.
“He has a great ability to go it and get open any player he wants and to get 10 assist per game,” Ritz said. “He also can score when we wants to go score.”
Ritz says playing with a respected AAU program during the offseason has helped him take his game to another level.
“AAU ball has helped me tremendously,” he said. “I’ve learned to play with kids that are from all over the world. I think AAU helps kids a ton with leadership.
“AAU also helps with working on your game and getting to where you want to be come school ball or prepare for college.”
Although he does not yet have any scholarship offers, Ritz has started to hear from several schools.
“I’ve heard from a couple schools that have said that they are keeping an eye on me, and to come to their camps,” he said.
