KANSAS CITY — Prep Hoops Kansas takes a look at several players who stood out at Sunday’s Top 250 Expo held at the Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City.
3 — Nick Arensberg, 6’2, 2020, Shawnee Mission East
Arensburg has good size for a guard, quick feet and plays with poise and confidence. He has some bounce in his step and both quick and creative off the bounce with the ability to get to the basket and finish plays. Arensberg has solid vision and is good at playing the wing spot as he can handle the ball and run the show, move inside and play on the block or operate as a slasher and score on the move.
8 —Travis Beetch, 6’3, G, 2020, Abilene
A lanky guard who does a little bit of everything well. He runs hard and is extremely scrappy. He looks to shoot whenever he has an opening and takes good shots and can block shots and fight through heavy contact. He is creative and can get looks inside and out. He handles the ball well and was a valuable piece for his team with a slick step-back jumper.
16 — Josh Broxterman, 6’2, G, 2021, Meridan
A physical player who plays hard and makes contact. He is a good defender and can handle physicality and make plays. He keeps his eyes on the ball and runs well and looks to come away with steals and easy buckets around and above the rim. He can shoot well from distance as well and is an underrated scorer.
46 — Nate Hawk, 6’3, F, 2021, Valley Falls
Hawk has a long, rangy frame with good size and length showed a smooth looking outside shooting stroke and knocked down several outside shots when left open, but didn’t always show a lot of aggressiveness. Hawk is a strong defender and looks to block shots and force players to use their weak hand.
103 — Varick Wooten, 6’3, G, 2020, Cristo Rey
A nice guard with good handles and breakaway athleticism. He has long arms and is a good transition shot blocker. He can get to the free throw line and is aggressive with the ball and shows play-making ability around the basket.
