The 6’7 forward is an interesting talent who has good size and post skill while still having some body to throw around. He can be physical and tough around the rim and the body will allow college coaches to mold him into a real force down the road.
Phelps is looking at a breakout season for Mater Dei as he steps up in a bigger role. Last year, he averaged 7.8 points and 5.3 rebounds per game along with 32 total blocks.
Right now, Phelps is looking at a number of interested schools from Anderson, Wabash, Hanover College, Franklin College, and Urbana. The southern Indiana talent is taking a visit this Thursday to Anderson University to meet with head coach Owen Handy and the Ravens.
Phelps is a very typical style of big man for small school programs. The way his frame is filled out and the mobility really make it an interesting combo. He’s not a guy that is going to go out and shoot from distance but he does shoot well enough, 70%, from the free throw line, there may be that possibility down the road he could be able to pop out to the wing.
