A’justin Pearson 5’11” Show-Me State Warriors: A dynamic young point guard from Lincoln Prep who had the ability to impact the game at both ends of the court. He was excellent in the open court with his quickness and ability push the tempo. He works hard on the defensive end on the full-court press and he attacked the basket for scores and dropped dimes to open teammates.
Eddie Weekly 6’0″ Arsenal Hoops Elite: An excellent young point guard from DuBourg who got buckets and facilitated the offense throughout the weekend. His 3-point shot was pure and he also used his quickness and first step to get into the lane off dribble penetration. He did a nice job of changing speeds and keep defenders off balance.
Drew Vandeven 6’2″ Cape Elite: A smooth lefty wing from Cape Notre Dame who knows how to get himself into the lane to get buckets with shifty moves and the ability to finish at the basket. He lulls defenders to sleep with shot fakes and pass fakes, then before you know it, he’s in the lane flipping one up for a bucket. His feel for the game is nice.
Travon Thomas 6’0″ YSGMH: A solid young combo guard from Hayti who had an impressive set of handles and he made good use of them with his variety of escape moves off the dribble to get to the basket and score. He has good length and athleticism as well.
John Brattner 6’2″ Cape Elite: Another smooth young wing from Cape Notre Dame who enjoys the action in the lane with his combination of toughness and crafty moves on the dribble. He is a good passer who can score with either hand and make plays through the contact.
Maurice Jennings 6’3″ Show-Me State Warriors: A versatile wing from Grandview who has good height and length on the perimeter. He is a good ball handler and decision maker and he spends a lot of time at the point as a facilitator. He is always under control as he moves at his own pace, but can get a burst in the lane to knock down a pull up jumper. He also uses his length to rebound and block shots.
Brendan Moss 5’11” Arsenal Hoops: A thick shooting guard from Fox High who can really shoot the ball from 3-point range. He was very good off the catch with his quick release. I like how he moves away from the basketball. He also has the ability get to the basket with aggressive drives if defenders close out on him.
