Kobe Campbell 6’0″ Raytown South (Marcus Denmon Elite): An extremely quick 2020 point guard who plays the game fast and up-tempo, but does it while under control in old John Wooden mode of “be quick but don’t hurry.” His basketball IQ is good and he is tough when he’s getting downhill, where he can score in traffic at different angles among the bigs in the lane. He is also starting to make a few 3-pointers, which will only enhance his effectiveness on the offensive end.
Jayce Catchings 6’3″ Wentzville Liberty (Brad Beal Elite): The 2020 wing is an excellent offensive player who has done a good job of building up his body in the past year with work in the weight room. It showed a lot in the showcase as he did an excellent job of attacking the basket with strength and finishing through the contact. His 3-point shooting is very good and he has also developed a nice mid-range game. He is well on his way to another big scoring season as a senior.
Tayven Glasgow 6’3″ Lee’s Summit West (Team KC): The strong-bodied 2020 point guard was one of the most unselfish players at the event. Even in a showcase event where people tend to hunt their own shot, Tay was looking to distribute and make teammates better with his passing. It could have been a simple chest pass or a flip back to an open teammate, he was a willing passer and that led to a lot of buckets. When he looks for his own shot, he showcase his much improved stroke from 3-point range, plus the ability to strong-arm his way to the hoop for buckets and three-point plays. He has lost 36 pounds and he looks good physically.
Reggie Morris, Jr. 6’2″ Grandview (KC Run GMC): The slender 2020 sniper was one of the top perimeter shooters in the showcase and he was on fire in Sunday’s games. His range and his quick release were on point and also hit a couple of fall-aways from the deep corner were improbable. He is always moving, so he is hard for defenders to keep up with because he knows how to find the open spots. He is coming off a great junior season where Grandview won its second consecutive Class 4 state championship. After the showcase, he picked up his first Division I offer from Air Force Academy.
Jordan Nesbitt 6’7″ St. Louis Christian (Brad Beal Elite): A big, strong wing player who displayed his ability to get a bucket on several occasions on Sunday. He is a matchup nightmare with his size, strength and ability to create offense off the bounce. He is most effective when he gets to the 15 to 17 feet area for the pull-up, but he can knock down a 3-pointer. He is most effective around the basket where he can post and crash the offensive boards. He likes the ball in his hands, but he can impact the game more when he plays both with and without the ball. Has picked up a number of Division I looks lately, the latest offer being from Nebraska.
Jevon Porter 6’10” Father Tolton (MoKan Elite): The long and rangy 2022 Stretch 4 was one of the tallest players from Missouri as well as one of the best perimeter shooters. This is a nice combination to have. He is a knock down shooter from distance, either on the catch or he can also show you a jab step or a dribble move for the 3-ball. He is still very young and thin, but he showed a willingness to get in there and battle for rebounds. The youngster looks to be still growing and his game will continue to grow as well.
Sam Richardson 6’4″ Hancock (Arsenal Hoops): The 2020 wing was one of the most versatile players at the showcase. Even for his size, he has a solid low post game and he rebounded the ball well at both ends of the court. He did a little bit of everything to help his team as he also had several nice hustle plays. He is also a very comfortable perimeter player who handles it and can get to the basket strong and knock down a jumper. A fine all-purpose player who gives excellent effort. He picked up a Division I offer from SEMO after a very productive weekend.
Max Whisner 6’6″ Lee’s Summit (KC Run GMC): Young 2020 power forward who gained from this experience of competing against several bigger and older players during the two days. He gave a solid effort on the boards and finished in the paint. He is physically strong and did a nice job battling for position in the post. I liked his ability to pass the ball as well.
