“The highlight of playing with BBA Force is just playing against some really good competition this summer and giving these really solid teams a run for their money,” Fawcett explained. “There’s nothing I like more than frustrating a team that thinks they should beat us easily. I’ve also been putting up bigger numbers more consistently this summer and I can’t wait to carry this trend over into high school ball.”
Lincoln HS won 19 games in 2018-19 and had the best regular season record in Class AA basketball. With every day in the gym on his own, in practice, or competing, Sam is preparing for a state title run in 2020.
“We have a lot of returning players on the varsity squad and I think we have a lot of chemistry together,” Sam explained. “We are all expecting a big year and pushing each other to make that happen.
“I plan to continue doing my best in our upcoming tournaments to do what I need for my team (BBA) to win games and hopefully win tournaments. I am planning to lift and do open gyms three times a week with my school team and get as many workouts in outside of that as possible.
“Most of the time I’m working with Shane Hennen because he’s improved my game substantially and I’m seeing myself get better every workout.”
What areas does Sam want to improve as a player?
“I’m looking to improve at finishing at the basket as well as creating my own shot off the dribble.”
After a solid junior year in high school and an impressive spring with BBA, college coaches are now calling with more regularity about Sam playing college basketball.
“I’ve been contacted by a couple NAIA schools and University of Chicago but I haven’t taken any visits yet nor have I received any offers yet,” Sam said. “I started a little late with the recruiting process but I’m looking forward to the future.”
