Quaker Slam: Sleeper Alert!

Quaker Slam: Sleeper Alert!

The Annual Franklin Quaker Slam was full of high level talent and some regular names we get used to hearing and seeing. What's great about the Quaker Slam is it brings 48 teams from all around the state into one event and allows us to view some unheard of and under the radar type prospects. Here are seven players that are sleepers at this point and time!

Quaker Slam Sleepers:

2020 6'6 SF Lezjaun Harris (Mount Tahoma HS) - I first saw Lezjaun in Franklin's back gym with few people in attendance and he was absolutely killing it. He's a smooth wing player that can play some on the inside. A recent 5 inch growth spurt has boosted his stock and he is not even close to reaching his potential. He will benefit from added physicality and being a little more assertive to make plays, but he is the true definition of a late bloomer. He has some small college offers, but prep schools and even some jucos could easily snatch him and turn him into a legit 4-year university guy. *Feature image

2020 6'8 PF Kyson Rose (Kamiakin HS) - The 235 pound big man did not disappoint too much throughout the weekend. The lone senior on his team showed tremendous on court communication and directed teammates on both sides of the ball from the post position. Kyson plays a physical style of basketball, but he has a soft touch finishing around the rim. His high school coach told me he is also capable of hitting the three, although he did not attempt any in the games I watched. Eastern Washington and Central Washington have shown some interest, but he is not on too many people's map right now and he should be.

2021 6'4 PG Steven Westermeyer (Kamiakin HS) - Tall point guard that caught the eye of some Division 3 coaches' eyes at the event. Steven is not super explosive, but he is a solid athlete. His handle is solid, but he would benefit from working on his one step blow by quickness. Overall, he handled pressure very well and showed a good all around skill set. Someone to watch moving forward.

2021 6'4 SG Teja Singh (Seattle Academy) - As assistant coach Zac Townsend proclaimed, Seattle Academy is full of sleepers and this weekend proved that to be true. Teja Singh does not look the part too much, but he's got some game. Early in his school's first game he took off of one leg for a springy dunk that woke me up a little bit. As I watched closer, he has a slick handle and pretty good energy all around. He is a super high academic kid that could help somebody at the next level in a couple years.

2020 6'4 SG Diego Septimo-Ruiz (Mariner HS) - Mariner High School had a good showing at the Quaker Slam. At first glance, no one stood out a lot, but as time went on Diego was one of the standout performers on a consistent basis. He is a very good shooter at 6'4 and showed the ability to get hot from three. He really plays hard and possesses solid athleticism. The next step for him is filling out his frame some and just getting stronger to compete at the next level.

2021 6'5 PF Eddie Hulet (Seattle Academy) - Another potential college prospect for Seattle Academy that is quickly getting better. Eddie has a long and thin frame, but he has some sneaky athleticism has displayed on the break where he can rise up and finish with the dunk with ease. His offensive skill set is developing and he needs to get stronger, but he has a couple of years to work on that. His communication on the floor was good at times and can continue to improve as he gets more confident.

2020 6'5 PF Vladimer Salardize (West Seattle HS) - Vlad suited up for Franklin's roster, but attends West Seattle High School. He was the most consistent performer for the Quakers and he has a good skill set. He knows his game and maximizes exactly what he has. He put up 25 plus points on multiple occasions scoring from the inside and out.
