Hillsboro/Central Valley figures to be one of the contenders to win a state title next season in Class B North Dakota. One of the key cogs in the Burros’ attack is Landen Reed.
Reed, a 6-foot-2 wing, is spending the grassroots season with ND Attack Green where he’s had a chance to test himself against top-flight competition every week.
That opportunity has been valuable for him and he’s taking full advantage.
“I feel like I’ve played pretty well,” Reed said. “It’s been pretty valuable to play against some pretty athletic guys because it pushes me to get better.”
Reed does a lot of things well on the court. He’s a rock-solid defender on and off the ball with the size and strength to control opposing offenders. His shooting ability is a strength on the offensive end, as he does a great job leveraging that into backdoor cuts, straight line drives and kickout jumpers.
“I’ve been working on having a quicker release and a better jumper,” said Reed.
His coach with ND Attack, Alex Herman, said he’s the hardest worker on the team.
Reed is a multi-sport stud for Hillsboro and he’s been a key figure for teams that win a lot. That trend will continue through his senior year.
Beyond that, Reed isn’t sure if or what sport he’ll play if he does play sports at the next level, but he’s got plans.
“As of right now I’m kind of undecided but my future plans are going to college to major in business management,” Reed said.
