Continue ReadingCavalier was one of the best teams in Class B last season and a big reason why was the play of forward Andre Carrier. He’s averaged a double double each of the last three seasons and he’s showing how good he can be against elevated competition.
Carrier, a 6-foot-5 combo forward has been playing grassroots with ND Attack Green this spring and while the team has been up and down thus far, he’s making the most of the experience.
“It’s been a rough start but I think we’re starting to come together more,” said Carrier. “It was hard early on but we played well in the ECI Tournament. We lost our first game and won the next three and we played a lot better. Hopefully we can keep that going. It’s been a lot of fun playing with these guys.”
Carrier averaged 15 points and nearly 12 rebounds as a junior for Cavalier and averaged 17 points and 10 rebounds as a sophomore. It’s easy to see how he puts up those kinds of numbers as he’s athletic, active and aggressive. He pursues rebounds on both ends of the floor. He’s efficient on the offensive end because he can hit shots in the midrange and get to the rim and finish.
He’s been incredibly productive but he’s still got a plan to keep adding to his game.
“It’s a lot better for me because when the season comes, you are used to that better competition,” said Carrier. “Guys from bigger cities and big schools. The competition is tougher but I love the challenge. I’m still working on my three-ball. That’s something I want to keep mixing into my game. My defense can improve still but I think it’s coming around.”
Carrier is a multi-sport stud at Cavalier and his best spot from a next level perspective may actually be football where he’s a top-notch wide receiver. He’s keeping his options open for the time being though.
“I’m totally up for it,” said Carrier. “I’m looking at basketball and football and deciding what I want to do. I’ve received offers from Mary and Crookston for football. Been talking to MSUM, UND, NDSU and Minot State. I haven’t really talked to anybody much for basketball yet.”
