There was definitely some names that are unknown who had solid performances. These prospects are definitely ones that coaches should start to get familiar with.
Jaystin Smith 6’3 WG / Webb City HS-MO [Victory Ministry Orange] 2021
Scored the ball at all levels. First half he dominated inside the paint. He displayed good footwork. Has a solid build on him and used his size well against his opponent. In the second half he lit it up from the perimeter. Showed that he could handle the ball and run the show at times. He knocked down a pair of trey balls, and then worked them from the mid-range. He was also cleaning house on the glass. Finished the game with 16 points and 7 rebounds.
Tony Brown 6’0 PG / El Paso Bel Air HS-TX [West Texas Blazers] 2021
He may not look the part but he is a strong guard. He utilizes his speed and strength when handling the ball and driving to the lane. Plays heads up basketball and gets his teammates involved every single time. Quick hands defensively which allowed him to come away with multiple steals. Quick guard that plays with a strong point guard fundamental set. Finished with 10 points, 4 assists, and 4 steals.
Nathan Rodriguez 5’8 PG / Eastlake HS-TX [West Texas Blazers] 2021
He can shoot the ball from deep. Has a quick release on his jumper. Has a decent handle on the ball and used multiple speeds at times. Also engaged the defense when driving which allowed him to get his teammates involved in the game. Uses his quickness on the defensive end and shows his defensive IQ on how he was able to jump the passing lanes. Finished with 11 points and 4 steals.
Jayden Rhinehart 5’10 PG / Richland HS-TX [NTX Elite 16U] 2021
Aggressive on the attack to the lane. Finishes through contact had multiple and 1’s at the basket and also one from behind the arc. Has a good handle on the ball and has solid IQ offensively. He is a modern day scoring point guard who doesn’t back down from no opponent. Had bright spots on the defensive ed of the floor. If he can just keep his defense turned on the entire game. It can take his game to another level as a floor general. Finished with 19 points and 2 steals.
Mayen Ayuel 6’6 SF / Dallas Skyline HS-TX [NTX Elite 16U] 2022
Long and athletic wing that has great defensive presence on the inside. Plays solid offensively from the outside and inside. If you don’t close out he will knock down the perimeter shot. Took his opponent from the wing to the rim and finished. He is also a good rim runner. Runs up and down the floor like a gazelle. Plays with a high motor. He is an intriguing prospect which will be interesting to watch over the years as his body and game develops. Finished the game with 18 Points, 9 rebounds, and 7 blocks.
John Muhammad 6’4 SF / Mansfield Legacy HS-TX [Dallas Showtyme Rise] 2021
Came alive as a scorer in the second half of the game. He started off slow in the first half scoring wise, but his rebounding and physical play was there. Played the middle well offensively. Showed good footwork and ball fakes from the high post position. Finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Jackson Waggoner 6’0 SG / Grapevine HS-TX [Dallas Showtyme Rise] 2021
This is a prospect that can get his shot off quick. He has High release point on his jumper. Gets good elevation on his shot also. He moves well without the ball in his hands. Has a tight handle on the ball and can take you off the dribble. Hopefully this prospect adds a couple more inches to his frame. He finished with 19 points.
Jace Washington 6’5 CF / Haltom HS-TX [1 Ten Basketball Hurricanes] 2021
Wiry Combo Forward that plays with a good motor. Strong athletic combo that plays to win. Finished well around the rim. Has good handle to take defender from the wing and also knock down the deep ball. Defensively he guarded the smaller guards well. Used his strength to guard bigger opponents. Has bounce to his game as well. Finished with 34 points 12 rebounds.
Azari Woods 5’9 PG / Manvel HS-TX [Texas Mel Elite 16U] 2021
He is a tough assignment for opposing guards. He was breaking down the defense with ease. He was giving his opponents fits defensively also. Very pesky on-ball defender and cause a dozen turnovers in the game. He can get up for his size and will try to dunk you if your under the rim. Crafty with the ball in his hands. Finished with 26 points, 6 assists, and 6 steals.
Clayton White 7’0 C / Keller Central HS-TX [1 Team Basketball Eubank] 2021
Gets up and down the floor well for his size at his age. Keeps the ball in his chest and above his head at all times. Altered shots and rebounded the ball well. Set solid screens and played the high post position well. He is also a good passer and moves great without the ball to gain positioning. Interested to see how his skill set grows over these next two years. Finished with 8 points and 8 rebounds.
