Brady Dvorak was one of the best scorers in the Eastern Dakota Conference as a junior and one of the best guards in the 2020 class. The 6-foot Grand Forks Red River guard is playing with ECI Prospects this grassroots season and enjoying the opportunity to play with some of the best players in the state.
“It’s fun; you play against so many of these guys and now you play together,” Dvorak said. “You build your friendships and seeing them during the winter helps us I think because we are familiar with each other and it makes us all better. I think the team plays really well together. It’s our second tournament but you can see things coming together. We share the ball really well and things worked really well.”
Normally a very talented scorer, he’s playing on a team with no shortage of firepower. So he’s working on filling the role of facilitator and energy guy.
“It’s a different role for sure,” said Dvorak. “I guess we’re all trying to still figure out our roles. It’s not necessarily something that needs to be defined yet. I just know one thing that I go into every game that I’m going to work my butt off. Try to get my teammates involved; that’s kind of the job as a point guard. I’m just going in with a good attitude and work hard. Maybe become more of a scorer but sharing the ball is my main priority.”
Dvorak is a multi-sport star at Grand Forks Red River, doubling as a wide receiver/cornerback in the fall and also as a sprinter and jumper in track and field in the spring. Dvorak’s a busy guy. He’s gotten a lot of interest to play football and basketball at the next level. So that won’t slow down anytime soon.
“I’ve had quite a bit of interest in football,” Dvorak said. “I love playing basketball too. I’m looking forward to playing something. I’m not sure which one yet. For football I’ve had schools contact me or call me and I’ve been to MSUM, Bemidji and UND for junior day visits and a number of other NSIC schools have contacted me.”
