There were guards who ran the offense and got others involved, shooters who spaces the floor and forwards who showed off their versatility. Here I focus on the top big men who came to play.
Michael Forhan — H&H Elite
Forhan played in the early game and is a big man that was very aggressive down low. He made his work down low with good spacing, getting the ball and going straight up and in the half court set being very patient with the ball. Once he felt a defender on him he made a move and had soft touch on the interior. He ran the floor and his guard rewarded him, he allowed his team second chance opportunities keeping the ball high after he went up for rebounds and on the few that he actually he got with guys around him he was able to win the rebounding battle and then go up for a basket. He had 18-points in the game and kept his team around. H&H Elite lost the game by two points in a heartbreaker but Forhan attempted to secure the win with good work down low.
Nick Trevino — Houston Raptors
In one of the early games of the day one of the biggest standouts was #35, Trevino. He made countless plays and showed off his versatility and athleticism. He is a player that can go out to the wing but also has the strength to defend and play down low. In the game he switched it up as he made the opposing team pay from both inside and out. He was very aggressive and strong and his solid footwork created some opportunities for him inside. He is quicker than other bigs and that also separated him and helped his team pull off the nail biting victory. He sees the floor well and was unselfish in this game which led to him also getting the ball back and him finishing down low. He had a game-high 20-points and turned the heads of few on the sideline that were asking about him. As long as the Raptors team is sharing the ball and keeping Trevino within the flow of the offense and not forcing things they are going to be a team to look at moving forward.
Josiah Foley — Buddy Buckets
Foley is a 6’6 big man that plays even beyond that size. He has great size and strength and in the game was able to creat plenty of second chance opportunities. He won the big man battle with great energy and effort and he is skilled offensively as he is able to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim where he gets there and finishes with authority. He was a big reason for the morning blowout and although he does have few things to work on as he is very raw offensively he is a blank canvas with a very high ceiling. Once it all comes together coupled with him giving his all on every possession with a defensive mindset he is going to be a very solid prospect.
KJ Adams — Team Griffin
On a team this loaded most games come down to a blowout where everyone gets involved. This one was over pretty early, but not without Adams showcasing a few of the things that he could do. Adams is a wing that compliments any team as he is versatile and a freak athlete that is comfortable with the ball in his hands. In the game he was able to get in the open court and finish some highlight plays. He is very strong and a quick and springy leaper that not many defenders can go up with. He is a physical finisher at the rim that challenges guys at the rim and can be used in the half court set to make a move. On defense he was able to limit his mans touches and also patrolled the paint and came up with multiple blocks, deflections and steals. Team Griffin has so many guys that can generate big plays and Adams makes them that much more dangerous with his versatility and toughness.
Ronald Holmes — Beast Elite
Holmes is a tweener as he has a solid and strong frame that was able to get inside and chaos chaos. He played more on the wing and also at guard but was one of the bigger players in the game that adjusted as the game went on and got most of his production down low. He got inside the defense and finished amongst the trees. He was also able to finish with 18 points while also knocking down a 3-pointer. He was aggressive early on and carried that into the second half. Although Beast Elite lost the game a bright spot in the game was Holmes as he was able to find success in crashing the boards and also getting to the free throw line.
