Top upperclassmen in the semifinals round of the Division 1 Boys’ State Tournament Championships

<p>The upperclassmen that made this list had to step up in order for their teams to get into Saturday, and all of them did.</p> <p>But some of these upperclassmen on this list weren’t able to get their teams in position to win a state championship, but they left everything out on the floor. All of the coaches that were on the losing end on Friday were pleased with the effort.</p> <p><strong>Here are the top upperclassmen from Friday’s semifinals round of the Division 1 Boys’ State Tournament Championships:</strong></p> <p><strong>Edward Lacy, Knoxville Fulton</strong></p> <p>Lacy was a sophomore last season when the Falcons finished state-runner up in the Division 1 Class AA Boys’ State Tournament Championship game. He was determined to get his team back to the title game. Lacy controlled the tempo of the game and was effective on both ends of the floor in Knoxville Fulton's 66-55 victory over East Nashville. He finished with 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and two steals.</p> <p><strong>Deshaun Page, Knoxville Fulton</strong></p> <p>The Eagles had a hard time containing Page (pictured above). The senior forward had his way from start to finish, with most of his damage coming in the paint. Page finished with 19 points and six rebounds.</p> <p><strong>Caleb Grimes, East Nashville</strong></p> <p>Turnovers and missed shots down the stretch killed the Eagles’ chances of getting to the title game, but Grimes made sure his team wouldn’t go without a fight. The senior guard finished with a team-high 18 points on 7 of 11 shooting. Grimes also had five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. East Nashville had a solid season, finishing the year 27-7.</p> <p><strong>Chandler Lawson, Wooddale</strong></p> <p>The Oregon commit finished with 14 points, 13 rebounds, six blocks, and two assists in the Cardinals’ 76-65 win over Brainerd.</p> <p><strong>Alvin Miles, Wooddale</strong></p> <p>The Cardinals head coach Keelon Lawson wasn’t pleased with the junior guard’s performance, felt he could have been more aggressive, but Miles made shots when he needed to. Miles finished with 14 points and four assists on 6 of 9 shooting.</p> <p><strong>Johnathan Duncan, Wooddale</strong></p> <p>The junior shooting guard fed off the attention Chandler and Johnathan Lawson were getting. Duncan had 14 points on 4 of 8 shooting. He also added three rebounds.</p> <p><strong>Kevin Halfacre, Brainerd</strong></p> <p>The junior guard led his team with 20 points on 8 of 12 shooting. Halfacre made 4 of 6 shots from 3-point range.</p> <p><strong>Ques Glover, Bearden</strong></p> <p>The 6-foot senior point guard finished with 20 points on 6 of 10 shooting in the Bulldogs’ 76-60 win over Whitehaven. Glover also had three rebounds, two assists, and one steal.</p> <p><strong>Drew Pember, Bearden</strong></p> <p>The Tennessee commit had 19 points and 10 rebounds in Friday’s win against the Tigers.</p> <p><strong>Shamarcus Brown, Bearden</strong></p> <p>The senior forward went perfect from the free throw line (4 for 4) and finished with 10 points and 11 rebounds.</p> <p><strong>Roman Robinson, Bearden</strong></p> <p>The senior wing scored 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting.</p> <p><strong>James Wiseman, Memphis East</strong></p> <p>The Memphis commit finished with 22 points, eight blocks, and seven rebounds in the Mustangs’ 46-42 win over Brentwood. Memphis East will play Bearden in Saturday’s Class AAA Boys’ State Tournament Championship game. The Mustangs will try to become the first public school from Memphis to win four-consecutive state titles.</p> <p><strong>Carson Cary, Columbia Academy</strong></p> <p>The senior point guard finished with 24 points and seven rebounds on 7 of 11 shooting to lead the Bulldogs to the 76-63 victory over Eagleville.</p> <p><strong>Gary Smith, Jr., Columbia Academy</strong></p> <p>The junior big man added 10 points and eight rebounds in his team’s win over the Eagles.</p> <p><strong>Anthony Jones, Humboldt</strong></p> <p>The 6-5 senior forward had 18 points, nine rebounds, seven blocks, and four steals in the Vikings' 66-55 win over McKenzie.</p> <p><strong>Montrez Ward, Humboldt</strong></p> <p>The senior guard scored 21 points and dished out three assists. Ward made 6 of 10 shots from the field and went 7 for 7 from the free throw line.</p> <p><strong>Ronald Abernathy, Humboldt</strong></p> <p>The 6-2 senior guard finished with 18 points, four rebounds, three steals, and one block.</p> <p><strong>Ben Austin, McKenzie</strong></p> <p>Austin led the Rebels with 20 points, 10 rebounds, three blocks, and two assists. The senior big man made 50 percent (9 of 18) of his shots.</p> <p><strong>Lucas King, McKenzie</strong></p> <p>King, a junior guard, scored 19 points on 8 of 11 shooting.</p> <p><strong>Saturday’s championship games</strong></p> <p><em>Knoxville Fulton vs. Wooddale in the Class AA Championship game. </em></p> <p>A win for the Cardinals would be their first state title in school history. Wooddale, under first-year coach Keelon Lawson, has already made history by going to the state tournament for the first time in school history. Chandler Lawson has the opportunity to become a four-time state champion, an accomplishment his older two brothers, Dedric and K.J. Lawson, weren’t able to accomplish at Hamilton High School. Chandler won three-consecutive state titles with Memphis East under the guidance of Penny Hardaway.</p> <p><em>Bearden vs. Memphis East in the Class AAA Championship game</em>.</p> <p>The Bulldogs lost to the Mustangs in the semifinals round last season. Memphis East went on to beat Whitehaven for its third-consecutive Class AAA state title and ninth overall.</p> <p><em>Columbia Academy vs. Humboldt in the Class A Championship game.</em></p>
