Hard Work Region Preview: South Dakota Network
We may be on the tail end of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Hard Work Region and here’s a look at the South Dakota Network.
Team Orkmon will compete in the 13U, 14U,16U and 17U age divisions of the Hard Work Region and will be at the Hard Work Season Kickoff, Hard Work Live, Battle at the Lakes and the Hard Work Region Finals.
I recently caught up with Network Director Greg Shoultz to learn more about the program and what to expect from his program this season:
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
We started in 2012. Myself, my brother-in-law Kasib Powell and our friend Sean Ladd wanted to start a basketball training and AAU program in SIoux Falls, SD. My brother Kasib played in the NBA and overseas for 10 plus years. There wasn’t any youth basketball training programs around and just one or two AAU teams. We are all from New Jersey and played basketball at a high level in college and professionally. So we bring a unique and genuine commitment to the game.
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
To help as many youth reach their goals in life by using basketball and all its tools that comes along with it. We want to help players by preparing them to have a chance of a college scholarship at any level.
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our emphasis is on teaching and development of fundamental skills, teamwork, commitment, work ethic and sportsmanship
Do you know of any players that will be back in your program this year? Who should we have our eye on?
