Grind Region Preview: Machine Elite
We may be in the middle of high school basketball season but it’s not too early to look ahead to what’s coming up on the AAU circuit. Over the next few months we will be taking a look at the teams that will be participating in the PrepHoops Circuit Grind Region and here’s a look at Machine Elite out of Missouri.
Machine Elite will have a team in the 17U division of the Grind Region and will be at the Midwest Grind Session, Show Me Showdown, and Grind Region Finals.
Here’s a transcript of a conversation we had with coach David Johnson.
Why did you start your program? How long have you been around?
So I started Machine Elite first and foremost for the mentoring aspect… I wanted to build a program and coaching staff for kids like myself growing up… I was never fortunate to train year round and play aau growing up so my program gives kids that opportunity… And not just the basketball part just the big brother/dad aspect as well… Teaching kids that they are student FIRST and athletes SECOND is what we take pride in… We want kids to understand the importance of a great work ethic but also understand to have fun in the process… Machine Elite is going on its 5 year after April…
What is the goal of your program for 2019?
The goal is always the same for us… Making sure our kids understand the importance of giving 200% everyday!!! Also we preach to our kids to prepare for the next level…
What is your program’s mission each year?
Our mission is our
“Machine Law”
NO EXCUSES-WORK HARD-NEVER GIVE UP
Why did you choose the Prep Hoops Circuit?
And we’ve been playing in prep hoops for the last 3 years and I’ve loved the positive energy of the events and games… The social media aspect is great too… Spotlighing kids and their accomplishments after games is amazing.. But mainly I love how organized the tournaments are!!! And they understand the importance of friendship… From Andrew to Matt to Nick I really appreciate those guys… They definitely take pride in making sure kids get the opportunity and exposure from colleges…
