“I think I started off a little rocky but I’m getting back to myself and settling in more,” Smith said of his spring to this point. “I am really improving on both sides of the floor.”
Smith has done well improving his jump shot. It is a big factor for him to add value to his offensive game. Right now it is passable and that is an improvement but you see the fundamentals and how they progressed since last year. That growth is what could really help make him a better shooter in the future. You have also seen his finishing ability get better too. Smith is long and athletic and that really helps on the defensive end of the floor but now he seems to be taking those fast break opportunities and really finishing them at a higher rate.
“My defense definitely and attacking the basketball. Like attacking the basket in different ways,” Smith said of his game this spring. “My jump shot and my decision-making when I get into the lane.”
Colleges have taken notice and he already holds a few offers. IUPUI and Ball State are the two programs that got in early on the talented guard from Northeastern (IN).
“I’m still very humble even tho I got them really early,” Smith said of his offers. “I have a really good connection with the Ball State staff.”
His list of suitors has grown signficantly in the last year. Tennessee State, Wright State, Indiana State, Miami (OH), and IPFW have joined Ball State and IUPUI as teams actively recruiting Tyler Smith. IPFW will get a visit this next month from Tyler.
