Wednesday’s Daily Dive: Park Tudor On Track, Sophomore Duel
There was a very light schedule on Wednesday night but still enough to get some notes out of it. We breakdown that along with some quick hitters. Taking Park Tudor looking to get back on track, Sophomore’s Duel, and more.
Park Tudor Back On Track
Last year, Park Tudor was only able to get 8 wins. Most of that is due to their overall youth but still it was the least amount of wins since 2008-09. But that youth from last year has grown up a bit and it’s significant enough that they will be looking to get back on track to their winning ways under new head coach Tim Adams.
Now, after Wednesday night’s win over Greenwood Christian, Park Tudor is 2-0 and looking more like the program they used to be. They have already knocked off a good University team so that is a key with a schedule that is much lighter. One thing of note is Park Tudor is a 2A school but has typically had a very rough schedule against a lot of 4A programs. Coach Adams has since lightened that up with only two games against 4A teams in Ben Davis and Lawrence Central. Hopefully that will give some of these younger guys some confidence.
Sophomore’s Duel
On Wednesday, Leo and Churubusco went at each other with Busco pulling out the 73-60 win. The highlight was that of the sophomores for each team putting up some big time stat lines.
Leo’s Blake Davison and Busco’s Jackson Paul both were having themselves a night. Their careers are going to be interesting as both had older brothers that graduated in the last two years and are playing small school basketball. Now, in the same class, Jackson and Blake will battle it out to see who the best of the younger brother might be.
This night, it was pretty much even in the stat lines as Jackson Paul finished with 19 points, 8 assists, and 5 rebounds. Blake Davison had 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 2 assists. The finisher here is Churbusco’s win. This was their second meeting in their careers and both players have a win. A couple more games to go.
Quick Hitters:
- Chesterton moves to 2-0 with a win over Hammond Morton. Now, though, things start picking up. They get Lowell next on Saturday.
- Indianapolis Metropolitan got a win last night over Irvington Prep. They are 1-1 on the year but still unsure of how good they could be. Lighthouse South and Park Tudor are up next and both should be solid this season.
- Marquette Catholic also moves to 1-1 picking up an out-of-state win over Crete-Monee (IL). Colin Kenney, a Furman commit, had 29 points in the win. Senior Joe Andershock put up 13.
- Terre Haute South is in a completely new look this season as all of their top end talent has graduated but they snuck past Charleston (IL) last night. Post Kenyon Sholty scored 16 points and had 4 rebounds.
