Prospect Spotlight: Donovan Sanor (2020)
A top prospect in Idaho’s Class of 2020, Meridian 6-foot-4 guard Donovan Sanor is a player that can do a little bit of everything to help his team.
And that’s exactly what he’ll need to do as the leader of the Warriors this season.
“I’m kind of do it all guy, I just do a little bit of everything,” said Sanor. “I can shoot, I can drive, I can get my teammates open looks. I like to think I’m pretty athletic, so I use that to get to the bucket and finish.”
Sanor mentioned he’s been working on defense, his quickness and vertical. And got plenty of work in this past spring and summer while running with Boise Slam 17U
“Those are the guys that I’ve played with my whole life, so it’s just been really fun. We’re a very unselfish group, so it didn’t really matter where the points come from. I was mostly the shooter from that team,” said Sanor.
Now, with his junior season at Meridian on the horizon, he’s learning to lead, and could have a major breakout season.
“I’m going to start to be more of a leader this season. In the past I let that role be dominated by other teammates, and I’m going to have to step up and help the underclassmen this season. And also assert myself more offensively,” said Sanor.
His recruitment could really ramp up this year, especially if he a has strong junior season. So far, he reports College of Idaho, Idaho State, Washington State and Utah have all shown preliminary interest in the talented guard.
“For school ball the goal is to win state and I’m going to do whatever I can to help my team do that,” said Sanor. “And then I’m just going to be in the gym constantly grinding, because we need someone to step up and take the lead role this season.
