Recruiting Report: John Ojiako (2020)
Florida earned a legitimate prospect in John Ojiako this summer.
The 6’10”, 210-pounder has a college ready body and his size and strength gives him a true advantage down low. He has potential right now despite his raw game. Ojiako transferred from Kentucky Wesley Christian to Admiral Farragut.
“I was just introduced to the game of basketball as a sophomore. I used most of my sophomore year to understand the game and workout with my coaches to get better,” Ojiako told Prep Hoops. “My game improved during the AAU season because I got to play a lot of games. This helped me gain tons of experience and face good competition.”
Ojiako says he is excited about his junior campaign ahead at his new school.
“Admiral Farragut is going to help me improve a lot, with the coaches and players support,” he said. “It is also a really great school for a players development.”
This summer, Ojiako suited up for Team Thrill on the UAA circuit.
“It was a great experience because it was my first time competing in AAU,” he said. “We played against some of the top teams in the country.”
Currently, he holds an offer from Kansas State.
Ojiako broke down his biggest strengths and areas he wants to improve.
Strengths: Running the floor, getting rebounds, and blocking shots.
Improvement areas: I want to improve my shots, handles and my low, mid and high post game.
You can see it with Ojiako. He can certainly add more muscle to his frame and become an even tougher draw inside. He’s a high-end shot blocker and someone who relies on his athleticism more often than not. Once the game slows down and he develops a consistent pace, he’ll be ready to go. The arrow is high for Ojiako either way.
