Newcomers in 2020 Rankings: Part I
In the 2020 class 205 players now enjoy temporary tags of ranking relevance. With the needed expansion the Class of 2020 rankings invited in dozens of deserving prospects.
For ease of elaboration the newcomers will be splintered into groupings of five. Be warned that all ranked prospects are not created equal. A safe rule of thumb is to consider the top 30 potential DI prospects, the top 50 are likely to land DII/DI/JuCo. If you trek to the 50-100 range you will see many DIII/NAIA guys and then the lower ranked players likely exist as strong high school starters with an outside shot at post-HS basketball.
If you want to peruse the rankings in their entirety smash here.

.#179 Shaun Allen 2020 G Team Arete
While running with Team Arete AAU, Shaun Allen turned few heads this summer. Unfortunately, few scouts, analysts or college coaches caught Team Arete games outside Nashville. Shaun has some wiggle to his game. Look for the guard this winter on Lipscomb Academy.

#185 Blane Burrow 2020 Guard
-
#191 Ned Freeland 2020 F
Both Blane and Ned played for Upward Stars-TN. Blane is a stat stuffer and a bit of a pest defensively. He isn’t frighteningly big, but he gets his body in the way of slashers and understands angles. Ned plays high school for M.B.A. The team turned over some strong players and minutes are up for grabs in the new season. Unlike Blane, Ned plays frontcourt minutes. For their future positions Blane has more ideal size and thus earned a slightly higher ranking.

#195 Grant van Meter 2020 Chattanooga Elite Grey Point Guard
Grant suits up for Chattanooga Christian. Their program is big on spacing the floor and Grant is expected to tabulate some massive totals as a junior. Too often players get overlooked when they compete with smaller high schools, so Grant’s placement with Chattanooga Elite helped him onto our radar. Now that he is one to watch Grant needs to dominate his season and build off the momentum. His lower body strength provides a strong foundation.

#203 Kevin Halfacre 2020 Brainerd Guard
A smaller 5-foot-9 guard Kevin does what a smaller guard has to do to be relevant. He outplays bigger guards with handle and quickness. Brainerd barely played a high school season with their brawl spoiling much of it. Halfacre needs more opportunities to show off his game. Hopefully this winter will provide many.
