Recruiting Report: JP Carroll (2019)
In a class that is full of guards, JP Carroll has been one that has stood out to college coaches in the gym this summer. Avon’s 5’10 lead guard has been putting on a show with his toughness and his ability to score at the rim. While not thought to be one of the top guards and most sought after point guards in the state, he does have qualities that coaches drool over.
His toughness comes unmatched by anyone in the state at the guard position. Carroll is able to score in traffic and during the summer he was able to impress in this aspect. His toughness still drives everything he does on the floor and we were able to see that over the summer as he ran with Indiana Elite Fastbreak 2019.
Carroll is a guy who you can count on to play pressure defense and to create turnovers creating easy fast break points at the other end. This uptick in toughness and ability this summer has led to an offer by Goshen College, Carroll’s lone offer to date. Carroll has visited Goshen as well as North Carolina A&T on an academic visit.
Carroll has plans to take a visit in the future to Anderson University, Kentucky State, and once again to North Carolina A&T. This summer Carroll has turned the heads due to his improved ability to hit the jumper and being a force on both ends of the court.
Two of the things that college coaches have said about Carroll is they like the way that he defends and his leadership ability. He gets his team involved on the offensive end but can also knock down a shot when he needs too. If he has a quick start to the 2019 campaign at Avon, watch out, he has a lot to prove.
