Guest List for East Tennessee State Elite Camp
Saturday East Tennessee State hosted their Elite Camp. Many players from Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia, and Kentucky attended. These were many of the elite players in attendance.
If you or your a player you know attended the ETSU Elite Camp please DM @PrepHoopsTN to be included in this article.
Matthew Schneider (Murfreesboro Siegel)
The 6-foot-4 wing landed at #30 in the Class of 2021 rankings this summer. His rebounding prowess disguises the eventual wing’s athleticism away from the basket. Schneider is part of the anticipated Siegel High rebirth this upcoming winter.
Sean Ogelsby (Knoxville Central)
The 6-foot-5 wing forward ran with EOTO-TN 17u. His strength and power helped him compete on the glass. Ogelsby probably needs to be a college wing, but plays a lot under the basket right now. His upper body strength is an asset.
Ty Hurst and Gabe Harper (Carter)
With Team Passion Elite Ty Hurst really exploded over the AAU season. Hurst stands 6-foot-3. He might be a college 2 or a college 1. Regardless of where he winds up Hurst will be a scoring option. He can score on all three levels. Gabe plays point guard next to Hurst at Carter High. Gabe’s AAU coach calls him a “crafty playmaker.”
Tariq Daughton (Knoxville Webb)
Athletic wing guard Tariq Daughton was an emotional leader for EAB 16u. Alongside Emory Lanier, Tariq is part of the next wave of great Knoxville Webb stars. Webb just missed a state title last spring. Tariq and Emory are certain to give them a better chance this season.
Dante Harris (Alcoa)
In the last three months, junior-to-be Dante Harris (PrepHoopsTN #15) might have climbed the most of any 2020 player in East Tennessee. Alcoa’s starting point guard found a way onto the BMaze 17u team. Generally, the BMaze backcourt looked stuffed in February with Jaden Springer and Ques Glover. Still, Harris leaped up from 16u to 17u to provide more ball-handling and facilitating. His performance caught the attention of a handful of prominent LM-MM programs regionally.
BJ Edwards (Knoxville Catholic)
The Class of 2022 has many good players, but BJ belongs near that top statewide. A natural scorer, BJ really possesses the foundation’s of a leading scorer at the college level. He starts his high school career next month.
J.J. Platt (Webb-Bell Buckle)
The athletic point guard landed at #28 in the latest Class of 2020 rankings. Platt can score really well from the point guard position and with his high school team he will be tasked with scoring plenty.
Andersson Garcia (Hamilton Heights Christian Academy)
The best new player in the state is absolutely Andersson Garcia. His new coach believes he is a surefire high major basketball player. At 6-foot-7 he can score and shoot like a college scorer. The wing will entice multiple college coaches this winter out on the road. Tennessee State University offered him in his first month in the United States.
Andrew Williams (Hamilton Heights Christian Academy)
After transferring to Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (HHCA) from East Hamilton, Andrew and his family also switched from BMaze Elite 16u to EAB 16u. Williams really impressed all AAU season. His game is morphing into a wing or faceup-forward. Too often players of his height and skills get relegated to plodding low block bigs, but Andrew is figuring out a great way to play on the wing…play next to giants. HHCA Head Coach Zach Ferrell will have some mighty forwards and centers this winter, including Jason Jitoboh and Bayron Matos-Garcia. These guys will allow Andrew to develop at his intended position of 2-3.
