17U Stock Risers from MHP
Who were the top Oklahoma stock risers from the Mullen’s High Profile Tournament this past weekend? We also include a few out of state prospects that really impressed!
Connor Slater 2019 Game Changer Hoops Wing
Slater might have improved his stock the most out of any Oklahoma player this weekend. If you are at an NCAA Division II school and you haven’t offered Slater you probably will be late to the party by the time this article posts. Slater was excellent scoring the ball from all three levels. The jumper is where he impresses the most scoring it with defenders close or with room consistently. Slater is sneaky athletic, which most do not know until he puts a defender through the rim.
Corey Coleman 2019 Pro Skills Oklahoma Guard
Coleman brought his A game this weekend on both ends of the floor. The defensive showing he put on was impressive. Coleman has a good strong drive with a solid shooting stroke. He is a prospect to keep an eye on at John Marshall next year.
Jamarius Campbell 2019 Arkansas Wing Wing
Campbell showed why he is getting Low Major NCAA Division I interest. The ability to score at all three levels well with the size and athleticism of Campbell make him a perfect Wing for the LM NCAA Division I or High NCAA Division II level. Campbell can put the ball on the floor using his athleticism and strength to power buckets through. The mid-range part of his game is an under the valued piece. When he gets hot from deep is when he really becomes tough to guard. The ability to also be a solid defender adds to his value.
Rylan McDaniel 2019 Game Changer Hoops Point Guard
McDaniel plays on the White Game Changer Hoops squad at the Point. He brings it every game. The small stature of McDaniel may make some colleges cautious, but that said I encourage them to scout him in-depth. This weekend against some of the best competition, McDaniel diced defenses left and right. The most notable performance came on Friday night as McDaniel tore apart a talented team in Oklahoma Run PWP. It was the best single-game performance I saw in the entire tournament. He attacked the defense using his quickness to open up the defense. At the beginning of the game, McDaniel got going by attacking the basket. In the second half, he opened up the defense by using the separation to nail three-pointers. McDaniel is going to be a small college player that is a steal for someone.
Moun’tae Edmundson 2019 Game Changer Hoops Point Guard
Edmundson was fantastic for his squad this weekend bringing fire, intensity, and a mix of everything basketball skills wise that helped his team to victory. An area he especially did great was hitting shots in key situations. Edmundson is going to make a small college very happy with all the different skill sets he brings to the table. The competitive nature of Edmundson adds to his skill set. He has the leadership quality that coaches love a Point Guard to have within their game.
Nigel John 2019 Team Allegiance Post
John was a huge surprise this weekend out of Texas. He is huge on the block at 6’10. The way he scored down low was with nifty moves around the basket. The physical traits of his game alone are outstanding. He is raw in many areas but is a guy that is a for sure NCAA Division II player and could even make it at the NCAA Division I level. Playing Homeschool basketball may actually help him develop if he is being coached due to the fact he can play so many more games. John did everything from put players in the rim to pulling down big rebounds. He also was active blocking shots around the basket.
Camden Bialas 2019 South Dakota Attack Post
Bialas is an absolute steal for any college that lands him. The 6’8 Post can be a game changer around the rim with his shot blocking skills. The biggest reason that makes him such a steal is his size, skill set, and the fact he has a 30 on his ACT. If he ends up at a small college he could be a full scholarship talent placed on an all-academic scholarship. Bialas also showed he can score effectively in opportunities in the paint.
Shemar Smith 2019 Team Griffin Forward
Smith is an unbelievable athlete. He scored the ball attacking the rim looking for any chance he could get to rim it off. Smith is likely headed JUCO out of high school and I am convinced could make the transition to the three at a JUCO. He has the ability to be a factor on both ends with his size and athleticism. He has started to really improve his outside shot. It is going to be fun to see Smith over his colligate career with the advances he is already making in high school.
Jordan Smith 2019 Oklahoma Servants Wing
Smith did so many positive things on the court for the Servants at the MHP. He was consistently making plays from grabbing a steal on defense to making the right pass or popping from three-point range. He could play at the low small college level.
Bryce Thompson 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP UA Combo Guard
Thompson is known for his shooting talents on the Wing. This weekend was not his best showing from behind the arc, but a solid outing by Thompson’s standards. What most stood out about Thompson were the great passes he made to teammates. Thompson has not been known for being able to create but has clearly advanced in that area of his game. He fit passes in tight windows, pushed the pace, and many more positive things on offense. All of which have me thinking Thompson could by the end of his high school career be able to step in at a High Major school and provide that team with minutes at the Point Guard spot. I continue to be impressed with how Thompson works on the negatives in his game and over time turns them into positives.
Julian Smith 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP UA Point Guard
It is great to see Smith back on the floor with Oklahoma Run PWP. He looks back in shape for the most part coming off his leg injury in the spring. Smith shot the ball exceptionally well from three-point range this weekend. The ability to score the basketball is going to be what attracts colleges to Smith. He projects to the NCAA Low Major Division I level.
Hunter Hoggatt 2020 Oklahoma Run PWP Red Wing
Hoggatt shot the ball very well this weekend from deep. He is a rising 2020 prospect that is making big waves playing up an age. The length at 6’4 from the Wing allows him to get off his shot with ease over defenders. Hoggatt is becoming one of the better scorers from the Wing. Look for him to have a big year at Sapulpa.
Logan Dolan 2019 Oklahoma Run PWP Red Wing
Dolan is a sharpshooter with deep range from three-point land. He excelled in catch and shoot situations knocking down shots consistently. Dolan is going to be an impact guy at the small college level due to his ability to put the ball in the basket form his jumper.
