July Evaluation Week #1: Standout Performers
Here are some of the top individual performers from the first weekend of the July Evaluation period:
Dajuan Harris 6’2″ MoKan Elite 17U
The smooth 2019 point guard from Rock Bridge was a consistent floor leader for MoKan Elite, which advanced to the Final Four at last weekend’s Nike EYBL Peach Jam in North Augusta, S.C. His ability to control the offense and play excellent defense against some of the nation’s high-level guards was on display all weekend. In a victory over Drive Nation, Harris had 12 points, 12 assists and eight steals in getting a near triple-double.
Mario McKinney 6’1″ Brad Beal Elite 17U
The 2019 guard from Vashon enjoyed a very productive weekend at the Peach Jam. He really stepped up with a couple of big performances late in the weekend, including 27 points, seven rebounds and three assists in a victory over the New York Lightning. He followed up with 18 points and eight rebounds in a win over Peach Jam finalist WhyNot. He was constantly attacking the basket on offense and putting the pressure on the defense.
Jamonta Black 6’4″ MO Team Carroll 17U
The 2019 guard from Rock Bridge had a big weekend in helping Team Carroll to the 17U championship at the Midwest Live in Omaha, NE. Black averaged 15 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting a toasty 62 percent from 3-point range. He scored 23 points in the semifinals and a game-high 30 points in the championship game. Black has already committed to Missouri State.
E.J. Bellinger 6’4″ Gateway 17U
The talented 2019 shooting guard from Fort Zumwalt South led Gateway to a 3-1 record at the Adidas Gauntlet Silver Tournament in New York. He scored 23 points in a victory over Team New England and 20 points in a victory over Florida Gold Coast. He holds Division I offers from Southern Illinois and Louisiana-Monroe.
Anton Brookshire 6’1″ Yanders Law 16U
The talented 2021 point guard from Kickapoo was a bucket throughout the weekend at the NY2LA Next Level in Mequon, WI. He was consistently scoring more than 20 points a game during the tournament. He had a high of 27 points in a victory over the Jets-Ramey United. He scored 23 points in a victory over the Iowa Mavericks and 20 points in a victory over Lincoln Supreme. He has already garnered a small number of Division I offers.
Broc Smith 6’4″ MO Team Carroll 17U
The 2019 shooting guard from Republic was Team Carroll’s leading scorer during the weekend as it won the championship at the Midwest Live in Omaha, NE. He averaged nearly 16 points, five rebounds and two assists while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range.
Malek Davis 5’10” Ramey-Jets United 17U
The 2019 point guard from Cardinal Ritter was a key cog for the Ramey-Jets over the weekend as they advanced to the Final Four of the NY2La Association and Elite Eight of the NY2LA Next Level in Wisconsin. Davis produced consistent offense while also playing tenacious full-court defense.
Quenton Shelton 6’2″ Woodz Elite 16U
The 2020 guard from Lebanon played a big role in helping Woodz Elite to the 16U championship at the Nike EYBL Peach Jam. Shelton shot the ball well from 3-point range while also facilitating and setting up open teammates.
