UA Select Super 16 (2020 Forwards)
Here is a look at the top Class of 2020 forwards from last weekend’s UA PTN Select Super 16 in Cape Girardeau, MO.
Evan Schneider 6’6″ Mid Mo Elite 16U
The physical young power forward from Ladue was very productive throughout the weekend with his consistent scoring and rebounding. He did a nice job of using his strength to play bully-ball around the basket with good moves and a nice touch. He could also put it on the floor a little and knock down a 3-pointer off the catch. He was also a tough rebounder at both ends of the floor. He played with a lot of energy.
Michael Skoff 6’4″ Arsenal Hoops 16U
A versatile combo forward from DeSmet who makes the game easier for everyone because of his ability to shoot, pass and handle the basketball. He can shoot the ball well from 3-point range, especially from the corners to space the floor. His handles are solid and he does a nice job keeping the ball moving on offense.
Ross Struemph 6’6″ Mid Mo Elite 16U
It was my first time seeing this Class 1 standout from St. Elizabeth and I was impressed with his fundamental play in the low post. He got excellent position and did a nice job of keeping the ball up and finishing around the basket. Although not as physical as teammate Evan Schneider, he did not shy away from the contact, thus was a factor throughout the weekend. He’s going to be a major problem in Class 1 for the next two years.
Cooper Denehe 6’6″ SEMO Athletic Club 17U
My first look at the young power forward from Rock Bridge and he looked very good. He made quite a big first impression when he caught the ball on the wing, made a strong rip-through baseline and finished with a emphatic two-handed dunk. Bam! He was very active around the basket with good post moves and strong rebounding at both ends.
Tre Kempker 6’4″ Mid Mo Elite 16U
A versatile combo forward from Eugene High who was an excellent all-purpose performer. He performed several different duties and did them well from rebounding, defense, ball handling and getting buckets when needed. He attacked the boards on both ends and was always in the passing lanes. His athleticism and overall versatility makes him a very valuable player to have on the floor at all times.
