Word had been leaking out of Newtown that the Cougars had a nice new addition from north of the border and Sunday provided our first look at Bernard after the swingman had been nursing minor injuries earlier in the fall. The Canadian product looks like he’ll give a real boost to a revamped George lineup, bringing nice size and fluid athleticism to the perimeter as a versatile presence on both ends of the floor. His production wasn’t necessarily loud but he showed a clear sense of where to be and what to do with the ball in a physical package that should provide a variety of paths to long-term value. While still getting his feet wet and just starting to show all that he can do, Bernard projects to make a nice debut when he slots into the next update of the statewide 2029 rankings.
