As the calendar moves closer to the start of the high school season, weekends around the area are filled up with showcases, giving players plenty of opportunity to compete and establish their roles heading into the winter. Returning for another year, New Jersey Legacy Basketball hosted its annual Get In Get Out Showcase on Saturday at the Hackensack Recreation Center in Hackensack, NJ— a one day event providing an early opportunity to evaluate prospects, get a feel for the roles they are preparing to take on this season, and watch several intriguing matchups featuring some of the state's top programs. With plenty of talent taking the floor throughout the day, let's take one last look at the players who stood out and made strong impressions during Saturday's action. He combined strong ball skills with decisive playmaking and efficient perimeter shooting— consistently keeping possessions organized while making high level reads in a variety of ball screen actions while simultaneously doing a good job of positioning himself for catch and shoot opportunities from three point range, stepping into in rhythm looks on the wing and confidently knocking down trail threes in transition, demonstrating consistent confidence and efficiency from beyond the arc when opportunistic looks presented themselves.     A natural and instinctive floor general, [player_tooltip player_id='2763609' first='Jake' last='Ellis'] routinely combines a polished feel for the game with the ability to make timely plays under pressure. Ellis made his biggest impact through his commitment to running the offense and creating a natural flow for the group, highlighting his proficient feel for the game— controlling the pace of the game deciphering between when to push the tempo and when to slow down the pace, locating shooters when generating paint touches and collapsing the defense, and forcing defensive rotations with his quick burst off the bounce.     [player_tooltip player_id='2391282' first='Avery' last='George'] continued to reinforce his reputation as a dangerous perimeter shooter, with his knockdown three point shooting serving as a key component of his offensive value. Against Bayonne, George impressed the most with his ability to repeatedly punish defensive lapses in the half court, filling into open perimeter spots on the court and sliding to vacant wing spots to replace driving guards while at the same time excelling as a spot up threat in the corner when driving guards created drive and kick opportunities. His confidence and consistency from deep allow him to function as a dependable floor spacer while creating additional driving lanes and offensive space for his teammates.     A forward who consistently makes his presence felt in the paint with his relentless activity highlighted by his unique skillset and interior ruggedness, [player_tooltip player_id='3544161' first='Mateo' last='Bensimon'] continued to establish himself as a dependable front court presence. He showed a knack for finishing plays— showing extreme comfort attacking the basket out of perimeter and mid post face up game, handling the ball in the open floor to initiate the break, while also showing the ability to make a move in the low post and finish with strong footwork and soft touch around the rim. Rebounding remains a defining strength where he continued to crash the glass for offensive put backs and secure possessions on the defensive end.     [player_tooltip player_id='2421355' first='Kyle' last='Dixon']'s veteran experience at The Patrick School was evident in this one, particularly in his ability to make an impact across multiple areas offensively. Dixon yet again provided production in whatever the game's flow demanded— attacking the offensive glass with energy to create second chance opportunities, exploiting driving angles as a slasher off the bounce, generating rim pressure in transition before the opposing defense could recover. All while additionally featuring efficient hints of isolation scoring and creating offense for himself off the bounce against certain matchups. In St. Peter's Prep's second matchup versus Middle Township Addison found a noticeable rhythm from three point that saw him bury a number of outside looks, showing an ability to efficiently capitalize on opportunities and shoot it with most notably without hesitation.     [player_tooltip player_id='3777556' first='Jaleo' last='Wakefield'] impressed in the different ways he was able to pick his spots offensively and provide supplementary scoring, particularly most effective as a finisher— showing soft touch on his float game when meeting length in the lane, crafty finishing in traffic when exploiting driving angles and defensive rotations off the bounce coupled with providing rim pressure in transition when pushing the pace for easy offense in the open floor.
