He was able to gain inside position fairly often and showed the ability to shoot right over the top of defenders who tried to contest him. Opponents also had to resort to fouling him at times to prevent easy looks around the basket. In addition to his scoring, Whipple contributed on the glass and leveraged his size defensively to help protect the rim. He made assertive moves to get to the rack and showed good touch on his finishes around the basket. Grant also played with plenty of intensity on the defensive end and didn't give up anything easy. He did a majority of his damage on offense in the paint, where he stayed aggressive and consistently looked to make his presence felt. I can definitely see him carving out a significant role once the season gets going. He splashed in his first two 3-point attempts, and not much later he connected on a smooth pull up jumper. It was great to see from him, and he was likely the leader in the scoring department for his squad. He later knocked down another from beyond the arc and got to the hoop on one of his drives, putting him right around 13 points on the night.
