Minnesota Sophomore Showcase: Game 2 Player Notes

We run down the list of guys who impressed!</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2848466' first='Zeke' last='Morris'] of Perham. Morris was the first guy to catch the eye in the second round. The biggest item was his hustle, Zeke got to his help spots and his lateral defensive spots as well as anybody. Played with effort. Also made the right passes and took the right shots, and he made a three and a couple attacks the first round of games for his group. A technically sound player from the state tournament Yellowjackets. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2387926' first='James' last='King'] of Lakeville South. King made some athletic plays that made me take a second look. There was a timed put-back, a two hand board, and a cut to finish in a small window that had me thinking he could help the program at some point. A strong kid that looks like a wideout or safety frame wise, King is a name to watch in future years for the Cougars.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2450906' first='Mason' last='Rhynie'] of Cretin-Derham Hall. Mason is about 6'2 or maybe bigger and his face up game in this event was something to keep in mind. Mason hit a three and then followed that with two impressive face-up attacks using his frame and physical approach to make plays at the rim. One just missed (would have been a foul) and then other was a make off the glass. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2419995' first='Quasar' last='Hill Jr'] of Tartan. Hill has been one of the better passers, decision makers that has been on the court today. His transition leads were excellent and each possession Hill moved the ball to the right spot making the defense work immediately. There were not a ton of guards that made a high percentage of good choices but Hill was one of them. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2873690' first='Jeremi' last='Thomas'] of Minnehaha Academy. The 6'2 athletic wing was a tough for the defense to stop. His floor run was ahead of the defense which helped often, Thomas had cuts to catch and make or pushes to the cup that he finished to give his team the lead. Thomas also hit a three and played with a ton of energy. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='2424402' first='Jackson' last='Malmo'] of Wayzata. A 5'9 point guard that has really good feet and a great feel for the lead guard spot. He moves the ball and makes open shots in the way the [program_tooltip program_id='2075965' first='Trojans' last=''] want their players to, and he competes with toughness. Keep an eye on Malmo at the younger levels this year and then the future. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3722596' first='James' last='Anderle'] of Wayzata. The six foot guard from Wayzata had an excellent dribble separation move crossing over a guy middle and then drawing in defenders kicking to the wing. The wing pass less led to a finish and a tie score. Got to his spots defensively and was another sound Trojan all around player. Made the right pass every time and played hard. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>[player_tooltip player_id='3654429' first='K'lani' last='Williams'] of Northfield. An explosive 6'3 wing that screams potential. When he got a step on a guy it was a clear path to the rim using quick lift, agility and size and Williams showed a nice touch to finish. This is the second time I've seen Williams and thought he has a real good chance to make a sophomore impact at Northfield. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
