Summer Standouts from the 3A Ranks

Oklahoma's summer basketball season delivered standout performances across multiple circuits, giving a glimpse of who could make major impacts this winter. With the release of the latest OSSAA reclassifications and current transfer information in mind, here are a few Class 3A players who caught my attention this summer.    [player_tooltip player_id='2400905' first='Marcus' last='Lee'] is a true floor general who consistently shows up and competes regardless of the opponent standing across from him. His ability to make an impact every time he steps on the floor was on full display this summer with YPG 17U, where he competed against top PRO16 talent in Richmond and Bryan. Lee immediately established a role for himself, making plays and helping his team compete against high-level competition.   Lee brings a well-rounded offensive game, capable of knocking down 3-pointers, driving through traffic, and creating opportunities for himself and his teammates. He is not afraid to get involved in the battle down low either, showing toughness when fighting for rebounds and absorbing contact around the rim. His competitiveness, versatility, and leadership make him a reliable presence on the floor. Lee is set to take the reins for Millwood and will be a key player to watch this season.     [player_tooltip player_id='3191948' first='Ethan' last='Konkol'] carried the momentum of his junior season state championship into the summer, putting together a strong run with SA Texoma. The lengthy wing does serious damage from the perimeter, combining a smooth jumper with a quick release and a high-arcing shot that he is not afraid to let fly. When defenders take away his perimeter opportunities, Konkol does a great job of creating a lane for himself to attack the paint or finding the open man. His ability to consistently be in the right spot at the right time speaks to his understanding of the game and makes him a smart, reliable player on both ends.   Konkol finished the summer on a high note, helping his guys capture a MAYB Championship and leading his final SA Texhoma game with 25 points. He also averaged 18.3 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3 assists per game during the Recruit Look Live Period in Nashville. With his length, shooting ability, feel, and versatility, Konkol will be a key piece for Cascia Hall as the Commandos look to earn back-to-back gold balls.     [player_tooltip player_id='2784529' first='Trenton' last='Morton'] is a complete offensive weapon who can score at all 3 levels and consistently puts up the numbers to prove it. Morton shows up and competes at every game, event, camp, and showcase he attends, earning All-Tournament Team honors after averaging 31 points per game back in July. The 6'3 guard does everything well, bringing a strong feel for controlling the flow of both the offense and defense. He is coachable, confident, and not afraid to call the shots or step up when the game is on the line.   Morton can knock down big-time shots from all ranges, attack the rim, and finish with nasty dunks above the basket. His defensive instincts add another dimension, as he disrupts passing lanes and quickly turns steals into fast-break opportunities. His combination of scoring ability, athleticism, leadership, and feel makes him a difficult matchup on both ends of the floor. Expect to hear Morton's name plenty this winter as he looks to make a major impact for Newkirk.     [player_tooltip player_id='3762636' first='Ethan' last='King'] is a new name to watch in 3A after transferring from Yukon, bringing valuable 6A experience and a different pace of play to the floor. King already made an impact this summer, averaging 18 points, nearly 7 rebounds, and 1 steal per game during a team camp hosted by Victory Christian. His ability to flow down the floor in transition stands out, as his long strides allow him to cover ground quickly and put pressure on defenses. King also brings excellent catch-and-shoot ability, knocking down the jumper when needed while showing a strong understanding of how to get to his spots.   King is just as effective around the basket, where he uses his size and positioning to track down rebounds and finish through the glass. His combination of experience, scoring ability, transition play, and rebounding gives him multiple ways to impact a game. With a new environment at his disposal, King is set to cap off a massive senior season and could quickly become one of the names to know in 3A.     [player_tooltip player_id='3762620' first='Brycen' last='Scowden'] is a 2028 prospect on the rise after putting together a breakout summer that earned him multiple opportunities to play at the next level. The lengthy shooter brings more than just perimeter scoring, as he can facilitate, move the ball the full 94 feet, and make plays for others. Scowden connects from range while also showing a willingness to cut hard to the rim and absorb contact to finish through defenders. His versatility and willingness to make winning plays give him multiple ways to impact the game.   Scowden capped off his summer with a standout performance at the NXTPRO Finals in Orlando, posting 21 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals. He followed that up with another impressive showing at a National Tournament, scoring 25 points while going a perfect 11-for-11 from the free-throw line. With his length, shooting ability, playmaking, and emerging leadership, Scowden can be counted on to be a major piece for Community Christian.
