Homewood Flossmoor 2028 point guard Darrius Hawkins Darrius Hawkins 5'10" | PG Homewood Flossmoor | 2028 State IL is a dynamic lead guard that has the ball on a string.  One of the most exciting players in the state to watch regardless of class with his ability to create with his lethal handles for himself and others.  At The EXPO he was effective knocking in a variety of turnaround jumpers along with finding shooters off the bounce.  Speed is stellar in the open floor and has a high basketball IQ!

In 10 games in the Nike EYBL with Brad Beal Elite Hawkins averaged 7.4 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 4.1 APG, and 1.8 SPG.  What did he learn from that experience?

“This summer I think I learned a lot about myself going out there with a lot of top guys. Being around them and soaking up all the information I can.  I can bring things back to my team and impact the team in a positive way.  I think it was a good summer.  Being able to impact the game in different ways.  Not just being a scorer.  Being a leader vocally and by example.  Playing defense.  Moving the ball around.”

At a camp like Prep Hoops The EXPO what is he trying to showcase?

“Showcase that I can dominate by all means.  I am coming out here to dominate and have fun with my friends.”

He broke down the latest with his recruitment including a pair of offers.

“I have to offers from Northern Illinois and Long Island.”

“They are a great school.  One of the former HF guards Gianni Cobb went there.  They look like a good program and I have been following them for a while.”

“My coach JD (Jamere Dismukes) went there as an assistant.  Head coach Rod Strickland has been reaching out to me.  It is good seeing that program taking a leap from last year to this year.”
