Five Standouts at Sophomore ID Camp

Some of the state's top prospects in the 2029 class converged on Seminole Sports Academy for the Prep Hoops Sophomore ID Camp on Sunday. The event featured plenty of young talent looking to stand out heading into the high school season. Here's a look at five prospects who raised their stock with strong performances.    The sophomore from the Panhandle is a versatile forward with inside/outside scoring ability. Hooten is particularly effective in pick and pop situations, where his shooting range extends well beyond the arc. He can also use his size and strength to score effectively in the paint on penetration or a timely post-up. Hooten handles the ball well for his size, is a willing and capable passer, and brings plenty of offensive versatility to the floor. Expect a big sophomore season from Hooten for the Wildcats.     Kenney was one of the most impressive scorers in the gym on Sunday in Longwood. He is a creative three level scorer with a quick trigger and deep shooting range, while also showing the ability to create his own offense off the dribble. Kenney has a quick first step, gets into the paint consistently and can finish in a variety of ways at the rim. The sophomore has a high basketball IQ for a young prospect. Kenney has positioned himself to make a significant jump in our next 2029 rankings update.     Another prospect who will be moving up in our updated 2029 rankings, Allen-Mimms is a quick, athletic, attacking guard who is effective both with and without the ball in his hands. He consistently puts pressure on opposing defenses with his ability to get downhill and is extremely difficult to keep out of the paint. Allen-Mimms is an excellent finisher around the rim, a capable perimeter shot maker and is especially dangerous in transition. His athleticism and quickness also translate to the defensive end, where he has the ability tools to develop into a high level on-ball defender and disrupt opposing offenses.     Pettit is a skilled wing prospect with good positional size, a high basketball IQ and an impressive feel for the game. He moves well without the ball, understands how to find open space, and can stretch the floor with his perimeter shot making ability. Pettit also sees the floor well and is a willing passer who can find open teammates. The TFA product earned his way into our next 2029 rankings update.     Petit-Frere is a lightning quick lead guard with excellent command of the basketball and the ability to put pressure on opposing defenses. He is extremely difficult to keep out of the paint, changes speeds well and understands how to use ball screens on the perimeter. The sophomore can keep defenders honest as a perimeter shot maker when given space. Defensively, his quickness and activity make him a disruptive on-ball defender who can create turnovers.
