High School Spotlight: Boonville Pioneers

The High School Spotlight Series is back and we are excited to feature multiple teams throughout the state once again! The season is still a few months away, but it is never too early to look ahead at the high school season. We will be taking a look at some quick hitters, the top player(s), a potential breakout player, other roster members, and more for the upcoming season. For today's spotlight, we take a look at the Boonville Pioneers.

Quick Hitters

Went 19-6 last season.

Lost to Heritage Hills in Sectionals.

Head Coach Jason Gansman starts his 2nd year as head coach. A big reason for that is the amount of talent they bring back, led by senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='2140389' first='Jaxon' last='McKain']. McKain quickly became one of my favorite players to watch over the summer because of his relentless energy, toughness, and ability to impact the game in multiple ways. The hybrid forward brings natural athleticism, plays with a high motor, and is always willing to be aggressive on both ends of the floor. Coming off a season where he averaged 13.0 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, McKain enters this year as one of the key reasons why Boonville could be a team to watch in the southwest Indiana landscape.

Potential Breakout Player: [player_tooltip player_id='2140326' first='Bradyn' last='Egli']

While McKain will be the anchor of Boonville's frontcourt this season, senior guard Bradyn Egil is a player I'm keeping a close eye on as a potential breakout candidate in the backcourt. Egil is one of the more under-the-radar guards in Indiana's 2027 class and enters the year coming off a season where he averaged 10.8 points per game. He is a smooth offensive player who can score from all three levels and consistently finds ways to impact the game. Along with his scoring ability, Egil is also a sneaky athlete who uses his quickness to make plays on both ends of the floor. With a bigger role expected this season, he has a chance to emerge as one of the top guards in southwest Indiana.

Other Key Roster Members

[player_tooltip player_id='2991363' first='Ian' last='Wahl']

Emmet Campbell

[player_tooltip player_id='3223793' first='Wyatt' last='Kuebler']

Grayson Hirsch

Aidan Wahl

Michell Boyer

Colton Andreanopoulos

Remmington Clark

[player_tooltip player_id='2622245' first='Cash' last='Willis']

Xander Snodgrass
