MAC Summer Shootout (Class of 2019 Forwards)
Here is a look at some of the top Class of 2019 forwards from last weekend’s MAC Summer Shootout in Park Hills, MO.
Dominique Hardimon 6’3″ Poplar Bluff
The physical combo wing dominated the tournament in leading the Mules to the championship. He averaged 17 points a game while also leading the tournament in rebounding. His ability to get to the basket and power through contact for buckets is perhaps the best in the state. He had several coast-to-coast forays to the hoops for baskets as well as many offensive rebounds. He has also improved his shooting from 3-point range, which makes him an even tough cover. He just plays harder than everyone else.
Tycen Gray 6’4″ Farmington
Another physical combo forward who loves the bump and grind of contact basketball. Tycen indeed thrives on it with his strong body and endless motor. He is an excellent rebounder who can score around the basket in many ways. He has also improved his ball handling over the years as he has taken a lot of that responsibility against pressure defenses. He scored on several tough drives to the basket through contact.
Donnell Carter 6’4″ Jennings
An athletic combo forward with a solid skill set, Carter had his best game of the tournament when he scored 13 points in a two-point victory over Farmington. Like many of his fellow teammates, Carter is strong on the offensive glass, where he used his quick second and third jump to have some nice tip ins. He is a good ball handler who has the ability to make plays and knock down short jumpers off the dribble.
Cole Laurence 6’7″ Farmington
Cole is an old-school back to the basket post player who does most of his damage around the basket. He does a nice job of sealing his man and getting good position. He has the ability to finish with either hand with equal effectiveness. Cole can also catch it and knock down 10-12 footers off the catch with excellent accuracy.
Donovan Parker 6’5″ St. Mary’s
A rapidly improving forward with excellent length, Parker is getting better with an opportunity to play on a full time basis. He uses that length to block shots around the basket. His offensive game has improved around the basket, plus he did a good job on the high post with short jumpers and good passing ability. He also runs the court well, hustling up and down the court on both ends.
