About Lavell
How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?
I’d describe my game as high energy and team first. I like playing hard on both ends, picking up full court on defense, bringing intensity, and doing whatever helps us win. Offensively, I can make plays, attack the basket, and keep the ball moving, but I take the most pride in competing every possession and being someone my teammates can count on. I’m always trying to bring effort, communication.
Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?
I’d describe my mentality as hardworking, competitive, and team focused. I’m the type of player that brings energy, plays with confidence, and always wants to get better. I take coaching seriously, hold myself accountable, and try to lead by example with my effort and attitude. Off the court I’m chill and respectful, but once I step on the court I’m locked in and ready to compete every possession.
Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?
Outside of basketball, I try to stay involved at school and be someone people can count on. Being a student athlete has taught me a lot about leadership responsibility and staying disciplined. I’ve also been recognized by teachers and coaches for my work ethic attitude and how I carry myself around others. Even outside of sports I always try to represent myself my team and my family
What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?
Basketball has helped me develop leadership, communication, and teamwork skills on and off the court. I’ve learned how to encourage my teammates, stay positive through adversity and lead by example with my effort and attitude. Being a student athlete has also taught me discipline, accountability and how to balance responsibilities while still working toward my goals every day.
Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.
One challenge I’ve faced is learning how to stay confident and focused through tough games and adversity. Basketball has taught me that not every game or moment will go your way but you have to keep working, stay mentally strong and continue improving. Going through those experiences has helped me mature as both a player and a person, and it’s made me more motivated to keep pushing myself.
What type of college are you looking for?
I’m looking for a college where I can grow both academically and athletically while being around coaches and teammates who push me to be my best. I want a competitive basketball program with a strong team culture, good relationships, and an environment where I can continue developing as a player and person. I also want a school that feels like a good fit and help to get to the NBA.
