Recruiting Report: Boden Skunberg (2020)
Jamestown 2020 Boden Skunberg is one of the hottest names in the upper Midwest when it comes to prospects earning attention from college coaches. Skunberg is a 6-foot-4 wing from Jamestown High School in North Dakota.
Boden scored 14 points a game with six rebounds a contest hearing all WDA honors as an underclassmem this past winter and he was a first team member of the PHD Sophomore All State Team.
This spring Boden has played with the Pentagon Schoolers and has obviously made an impression because the school offers are building and a pair of division one schools have been in contact.
“I was offered earlier by University of Jamestown and Valley City State,” Boden said on Friday. “I was offered today by the University of Mary and Concordia-St. Paul (both NSIC schools). North Dakota State contacted me today. Iowa Hawkeyes visited one of my open gyms and also gave me a call today.”
The building interest is there. Why? PHD goes back to what we saw this winter when we observed the following:
- Very comfortable handling the ball at 6-foot-4 as a wing sophomore. His hesitation dribble into a quick attack left a player frozen at about the half way point of the first half. The move was finished with a smooth 18 foot pull-up that softly went through.
- Quick off his feet with good body control with the ball
- Beat Joe Jahner to the spot moving his feet laterally forcing a turnover and a transition score for his team
- Boden’s crossover right to left into a jumper not only swished but it moved his defender about six feet off from the ball.
- Used that exact same crossover to make a jumper in nearly the same spot moments later.
- At his size and underclassmen age his handles really do jump off the floor and catch the eye
Boden shot 48 percent from the floor this year taking a dozen shots a game including 2-3 threes a contest (shot 36 percent at the arc).
