Central Methodist Team Shootout (Top Teams)
Here is a look at the top teams who were at Day 2 of the Central Methodist University Team Shootout on Thursday in Fayette, Mo.
Fort Zumwalt South: The Bulldogs advanced to the Class 5 state quarterfinals in 2018 and return much of their talent from that team. Class of 2019 shooting guard E.J. Bellinger was the top player in the camp with his scoring prowess while 6’5″ 2019 forward J.J. Schwepker is an excellent perimeter shooter. 2019 guard Jake Patton is an all-around glue guy and 6’5″ 2021 forward Conner Bekebrede is a strong rebounder inside.
Francis Howell Central: The Spartans are a senior dominated team that should improve vastly on last year’s 8-18 record. They have a dynamic pair of 2019 athletes in 6’1″ Tyrek Coleman and 6’2″ Terron Robinson, who can both make plays on both ends of the court. 6’1″ 2019 point guard Kaleb Anderson is a fine two-way point guard while 6’0″ 2021 guard Myles Estrada can shoot it from deep.
Springfield Catholic: The Fighting Irish will be a strong contender in Class 3 next season with the return of 6’2″ 2019 guard Jake Branham, who can really get buckets and facilitate. Fellow 2019 guard Michael Manzardo did a nice job shooting the basketball while 6’2″ 2019 guard Charlie O’Reilly loves to attack the basket and defend. Up front, 6’5″ 2019 forward Wallace Squibb provides bulk in the post and 6’4″ Will Morrison is a nice athlete inside.
Battle: The Spartans were missing a couple of key pieces Thursday evening in 6’4″ 2019 David Galantine and 6’3″ 2021 guard Cachao Gianquinto. They still had a lot of quickness and athleticism on display, led by 6’2″ 2020 guard Maricus Grant. 2021 guard Tristan Meny is an up and coming shooting guard with excellent range.
Mid-Buchanan: The Dragons have been one of the top Class 2 program in the state for many seasons. After making it to the Final Four last season, they will build around some young talent, mainly athletic 6’3″ 2020 all-around forward Christian Scaggs and solid 2021 point guard Javan Noyes. The Dragons have a good system in place with some shooters and solid bigs inside, plus they love to press.
