Prep Hoops Dakotas is taking a deep dive into one of the most loaded squads you'll find this spring and summer—Pack 16U Black. This group has all the pieces to be a powerhouse team, not just locally, but across the Midwest and beyond. With a roster full of high-level talent, versatility, and competitors, Pack is built to make noise wherever they go.   And they'll be going everywhere. This team has a packed schedule and will be putting on the miles, traveling across the country to test themselves against top-tier competition. Early returns have been impressive, with strong performances and tight battles against elite-level teams, showing that this group can hang with anyone.   What makes Pack 16U Black so dangerous is their combination of skill, size, and depth. They've got multiple players who can step up on any given night, a roster full of playmakers and shooters, and a collective mindset centered around winning. This is a tough, connected group that plays with intensity and competes every possession.   Led by head coach Quinn Austin and assistant coach Andre' Austin, Pack is guided by a staff that understands how to bring the best out of their players while building chemistry and accountability. The foundation is strong, and the expectations are high. "So far they've been playing fast and aggressive, and the ball movement has been really good. The biggest thing is that they've been learning from their mistakes and improving every game. Takes pride in being able to affect the game on both sides of the ball. Khaliq “the Freak” shows that he is no doubt a high  D1 prospect. Can score consistently from all levels at a high level. Has a long wingspan to complement his 6'4” and some change frame. Boxer quick hands on with steals & rebounds like that's his 1 job. Guards all position well. An all-around floor general. He also dictates the pace of the game, which, with his squad, is normally Fast! I expect this summer season to be another “breakout” season. People are going to get a chance to see what kind of player Khaliq is. The work he puts in will be on full display.   [player_tooltip player_id='2548370' first='Trason' last='Terry'] #24 CG St. Mary's 6'3”   Once in a groove, “Scary Terry” is a problem. He puts in the work & it's showing. He can get buckets at 3 levels. Gets hot from deep quickly & in bunches, has a nice middy bag, & can get to the bucket off the dribble & finish with contact. Terry can also be a menace, pressuring the ball. I expect this summer to be a nice jump for Trason. I feel that he is just going to help him take the next step in becoming an even more rounded player.   [player_tooltip player_id='2413724' first='Theo' last='Paye'] #12 SG/SF Grand Forks River 6'4”   Theo is a strong, athletic player with touch. Theo plays above the rim & can hit from downtown. Mr Paye is a great rebounder & guards multiple positions. He's just getting going full speed. I expect this to really be a Breakout summer for Theo. I feel he will be more aggressive on both sides of the ball & realize what a force he can really be at a high level. He's right there.   [player_tooltip player_id='2417300' first='Stephon' last='Booth'] #3 PF/C Fargo South 6'8”   Steph is a problem. A true Big Man! Relentless on the floor. Boards up hard with good footwork. Relentless rebounder. Can guard 2-5. Great teammate, great attitude! High upside. Does a lot of things right! D1 talent for sure. I expect Steph to have a Great summer. Has already played some top posts in the nation and held his own. Steph will be playing with more freedom and at a high pace.    [player_tooltip player_id='2442680' first='Keller' last='Hertz Barnett']  #11 PF/C St. Mary's 6'8”   KHB is the real deal! Yet another D1-level player on this star-studded squad. He does not get lost in the crowd! He can hit the 3 at a high rate with great form. Can score goals in multiple ways, and in bunches! From 3, a hook with either hand, middy, middy off dribble, DUNK! I could go on & on. He plays all out D all the time. Another player either great attitude!! I expect KHB tohave a breakout summer. He's already on his way. But with all the freedom to play his game. I feel people will be impressed when they see how good this young man is.   [player_tooltip player_id='2417313' first='Blake' last='Bergstrom'] #2 PG Ray 5”10”   This young man is an offensive Swiss army knife. He gets the job done in multiple ways. 3-level scorer. Has a deep ball/ middy game, including a go-to floater from anywhere, & gets to the bucket. True PG, loves to create as much as he does getting buckets. Blake plays solid on ball D & adds to every game. Expectations for Blake are to see him start affecting the D the way he does on offense, and it's happening. I also see him building confidence even more and getting comfortable at this pace with some big games.   [player_tooltip player_id='2480867' first='Memphis' last='Brewer'] #4 CG Mahpiya Luta 6'1”   Memphis is a 3-lever scorer. Has an effortless 3ball. Smoothie midrange game and strong to the basket. He can hold his own on defense. The thing that is really underrated about Memphis is his rebounding and passing. He can board in the middle of trees with sneaky bounce and great timing. Same with his passing. He sees the floor and finds the open man. Great addition to Pack Black. I expect Memphis to have some big games and be in the regular rotation for Pack. He fits well with all different combos. Once he gets a little more comfortable, it's going to be fun to see what this baller does this summer and his career.   [player_tooltip player_id='2412913' first='Carter' last='Larson'] #1 SG/SF Grand Forks Central 6'2”   Carter is a shooter with a quick release and doesn't take long to get hot. Guards 3-4 well. So far this season, you can see Carter getting more and more comfortable as the games go on. He's a hard worker who can score at all 3 levels. Once Carter gets used to the speed of the game on both sides of the ball, I can see him being a solid contributor.    [player_tooltip player_id='2411564' first='Knox' last='Collins'] #5 PG Fargo Davies 6'2”   Knox was added because of his speed, defense, knock-down shooting and all-around playmaking. He had an unfortunate injury, but is already close to being back on the floor and will be making his debut for Pack Black soon. Looking forward to Knox showing us what he can do as soon as he's good to go. "So far, we have had 2 tournaments. 6-2 record. Our only losses are in 2 close games against EYBL teams. Everyone has been playing well and getting chemistry going more and more each game. It's a team of gym rats."   PHD: What excites you most about this group heading into the season?   "What excited me most about this team is that they all want to win over individual stats. They all get along and want to be the best."   PHD: What are this team's biggest strengths on the court?   "Biggest strength is that they are a team of alphas. They are a team, and they work together and stay together. They have multiple players who can and have led in multiple different stats and can play multiple spots/ roles."   PHD: What are your goals or expectations for this team this spring/summer?   "Our goal is to be the best. We want to get better every day and see what we can accomplish together. Also, see how much each player can add to their game before they get back to school ball."   PHD: What will your defense "hang its hat on"?   "Team/intensity/relentlessness."   PHD: How often will your team meet to practice, and what will the focus be?   "1-? times a week. Getting better."   PHD: Who will be a few of your top shooters?   "It depends on the night. One thing we have is shooters. We also have passers; that being said, it depends on who has the hot hand."   PHD: What style of play can fans expect on both ends of the floor?   "Aggressive/Under Control."   PHD: Who do you think will be your best rebounders?   "I'm banking on all our players. [player_tooltip player_id='2417300' first='Stephon' last='Booth'] is averaging 12.7 through 8 games. We have had 2-5 lead games in boards so far and a couple near the top. So he will have comp."   PHD: What's a strength of this team that might not get noticed right away?   "Team IQ. The skill and size are easy to see right away. But how they play the game and adapt is becoming our best quality."   PHD: If you had to describe this team in three words, what would they be?   "Tough. Relentless. Connected."   "They don't back down from anybody—physically or mentally (Tough). They play with constant pressure and effort on both ends, never taking possessions off (Relentless). And they move as a unit—sharing the ball, communicating, and trusting each other in big moments."   PHD: Any last comments about the upcoming season?   "This is a dream group!! They have skill, size, and want to be their best. We have the #1, 2, 3, 4 top players in ND 2028 class currently and more on the move up. This team is going to play all over the Nation to see what we can do against the best comp we can find. It's going to be a tough competitive spring/ summer. Can't wait to see where we end up."
