College coaches are always on the lookout for players who can single-handedly turn the tide of games and secure victories. Game-changing performances aren't limited to scoring points; they cover a wide range of statistical categories and plays that don't necessarily make it onto the box score. In this article, I'll be highlighting five players who made a significant impact on winning basketball during the month of February!

Kaiden Smith, a key rebounder for Second Baptist against Houston Legacy Sports and Science, particularly on the defensive end, showcased his skills. His imposing frame provides him with an advantage in the paint, allowing him to control rebounds against opposing players competing for position. Defensively, he effectively guards the rim which prevents easy shots in that area. Offensively, Kaiden utilizes the pick and roll, executing calculated rolls to the rim for easy play finishes. In these situations, his teammates often pass the ball to him in open spaces within the defense.

Navy commit [player_tooltip player_id='2556062' first='Shia' last='Francis'] continues to demonstrate that he is a D1 prospect through his athletic abilities on both ends of the court. During the game against Houston Legacy Sports and Science, he consistently contributed to the offense by showcasing his downhill scoring ability. Defensively, he displayed strong perimeter defense and effectively blocked some shots at the rim. I am confident that Shia will make a seamless transition to the next level at the Navy Academy next college season.

If you had to ask me who the best high school guard is, I would say [player_tooltip player_id='2138026' first='Reese' last='Alston']. His offensive skills, including scoring, ball-handling, facilitating, and IQ, make him my choice for the best high school guard in the country. Defensively, his ability to read passing lanes and turn defense into offense by pushing the ball up the floor creates transition opportunities. Currently, Reese has multiple Division I offers totaling around 20+. I'm looking forward to seeing how much he improves over the summer.

Fola Sodipo is a 6'8 forward that served as the cornerstone of Katy Tompkins High School's interior. In a recent game against Katy Jordan High School, he demonstrated his versatility on both ends of the floor. He skillfully executed plays from the perimeter and leveraged his imposing frame in the paint to capitalize on high-percentage scoring opportunities. Defensively, he diligently guards the basket and significantly disrupting shots from various angles on the floor.

Marwane Fadika has made huge improvements this season, completely changing his game. During a game against Katy Tompkins High School, he showcased his comfort shooting off the dribble and catch, contributing substantially to the team's offensive efforts. If he maintains this level of play, Marwane is making a strong case for being one of the top players in the 2027 class. Notably, he tied the school's record for points in a single game, scoring an impressive 38 points against Cinco Ranch High School this season. Currently, he is carrying Katy Jordan High School in the playoffs with huge offensive outings against various teams. I expect him to keep this level of play up all the way until his senior year, that's approaching fast.
