-Johnson’s ability to control the game at both ends of the floor really stood out as an aggressive 2-way lead guard. Johnson reads the floor well defensively and is in gaps which led to two steals and ensuing layups. He threw a perfectly-placed touch pass to feed the post around the defender for the and1 lay and showed an ability to throw really crisp jump passes off the bounce in the key to shooters. Johnson gets the step and keeps it in transition and in the halfcourt to not only score past the defense but also draw fouls around the basket. He knocked down a 3, dropped a defender with a double crossover to split the double and hit the floater, and applied a ton of ball pressure at the POA throughout the game.

Servite had one of its best seasons in recent memory and Johnson was one of the main reasons for that. The 5-foot-10 point guard had the ball in his hands from the Friars’ first game of the season and he continued to make big play after big play and big shot after big shot throughout the season. Johnson led his team in scoring with 16.9 points per game, dished out 3.7 assists per game and added in 2.1 steals to his overall production. Johnson’s hard-nosed style of play helped Servite win 19 games – the most wins for the program in nearly 20 years.
