Sterling MLK Classic: 2026 Hybrid Guard Prospects

The Homer B. Musgrove Fieldhouse played host to the 11th Annual MLK Classic in Sterling over the weekend. Let's take a look at a handful of seniors who are combo guard options at the next level.    Would be comfortable slotted in a 2 man's role at the next level as a shooting guard. Settled into rhythm during second half. Adjusted smartly to what the defense was giving. Drove it into openings of zone trap and found success doing so. Comes with solid court vision as well. Shared the sugar on skip ahead passes during transition phase or cross court passes to get the ball on other side of floor. Big reason why team was able to push lead during end of 3rd and 4th quarter and not look back.     Defensively made his mark early from the onset and was consistent in that endeavor throughout the game. Tallied at least 8 steals while getting into the passing lanes or just pick pocketing straight off of the ball handler's dribble. Turned offensive into defense with a ton of fast break opportunity while sharing it well in transition. Agile attacking combo guard with speed that can turn pace of play up in a hurry. Finished with 20 total. Arguably could of also been named game's MVP with impactful box score.     Lengthy wing with quick slashing ability. Skied high for a lay in off BLOB action. Flashed in the paint quick for retrieval and foul to get to stripe. Crashes well from position offensively. Had an O board then kick out and another O board converting on own. Moves at a quick rate and fits in positively to system.     Has a 1 man's stature but a 2 spot's mentality post high school. Can be utilized in both situations depending what you need. Kid can stroke. Doesn't need much time or space to let it fly. Nailed a couple spot up catch and shoot 3's early within flow of O and continued in rhythm rest of game. Quick handling ability as well. Stays low to ground on dribble. Splashed in a cool pump fake 1 dribble mid range jay. Pick pocketed handler for easy bucket other way. Finished as game 4 MVP. Plus volume shooter at next level.     The other half to a skilled and talented Hilltopper backcourt duo. Shared the ball well with his big throughout evening. Drew an extra man on drives and dished off quickly to fill up assist department. Had a tough and1 take through traffic and another score underneath on a post up. Tough hard nosed demeanor that can provide a spark quickly.
