Circle City Shootout: 2019 Wing Standouts
The second AAU weekend for Prep Hoops Indiana is complete and we got to see some really solid teams for the second weekend. Today, we being our breakdown by class of those prospects that stuck out to us. Next up are the wings in the 2019 class.
Jaiquan Edwards | 6’5 SF | Indiana Faith 2019 Black | Cripus Attucks HS (IN)
Edwards played okay in this game. He is a guy who is more skilled than he shows and needs to bulk up a little bit. Has good form when he rebounds and can rack those up in a hurry. He’s a guy who is very interesting if he starts to play more aggressive and gets stronger. I would like to see him post more in the block to show his skill.
Joshua Patterson | 6’3 SF | Indy Nets Elite Black | North Central HS (IN)
Patterson was a guy coming in that I had not seen before and he was solid. Didn’t shoot the ball from anywhere outside of five feet but he goes up strong every single time. A really solid rebounder who clears space around him really well. A guy to keep an eye on to see if he can shoot the ball.
Myles Johnson | 6’5 SF | Indiana Elite Metro | Homeschool Wildcats (IN)
Johnson looked really good in the games I saw. He’s much more active and his shot has improved since the high school season. He looks to score more at the rim and was slashing and cutting all day. He rebounds the ball well from the wing and is starting to become more aggressive and confident in the things he does.
Nathan Childress | 6’6 SF | Indiana Elite Metro | Zionsville (IN)
Childress is an athletic tall guard who can really score the ball. He cuts to the basket really well and finishes. He had a few and-1 opportunities in the game and threw down a few dunks. One where ehe jumped clear over a kid and slammed it. He looks to score when he has the ball and is a really good defender with his size. Will be a scholarship player at the next level and will get a ton of NAIA and D2 looks.
Bryce Browning | 6’4 SF | DistinXion 2019 Black | Washington HS (IN)
Browning is a strong forward who has some weight to him. Pretty quick on the defensive end and is sneaky athletic. He had a couple blocks at the rim that you didn’t think could happen. On offense he can drive the ball or shoot it. He his a few threes in this one and showed me that he is a solid offensive option. Finishes at the rim really, really well. Could play the three or four in college.
