Breakdown: When thinking of the top athletes and the 2019 class, there are enough to go around. Guards in this class will provide a big chunk of the top players and this subsection of those are really impressive.
At the guard spots, we have five players at the top with Armaan Franklin and Manuel Brown as the top pure athletes. They have a ton of bounce and have really found ways to show that off during games in the last year. Manuel is more of a line-drive athlete while Franklin can just use it at any time.
Dexter Shouse has also really shown his athleticism as well. He’s really good with his lateral quickness and speed and has the ability to really move along the perimeter. He’s also plenty capable of finishing above the rim.
Brandon Newman is a physical athlete. He’s really gotten bigger in the last year and he’s so overpowering but has a quick bounce near the rim and with as big of a frame he has, it is impressive to see him make plays. For his size, probably the best athlete in the state.
Semaj Danley has a lot of tools as well. He’s already holding one of the best frames in the state with so much length but when you pair that with his speed and quickness, he’s got a ton to love. Can finish above the rim but more impressive as a on-ball defender because of his lateral quickness.
