Roster Breakdown: This roster is full of Kentucky kids and one Indiana guy this year. It’s a group that is going to bring a ton of scoring ability along with the ability to run in transition and finish at the rim. Guys like the Guthrie’s, Landon Newnum, and Rodriguez Thomas can score in a multitude of ways and will gel together to be a group of guards that at times are unstoppable.
Guy You Have To Watch: Carson Guthrie (Mayfield (KY))
Guthrie is a tall shooting guard who is able to make plays in a variety of ways. He is starting to shoot the ball more from deep and he gets to the rim well. He’s a guy that will be on a lot of college’s radars as he progresses through this summer season.
Best Bet To End Up Breaking Out: Jamorion Sharp (Hopkinsville (KY))
Sharp is a huge guy inside with a ton of potential. He’s a legit 6’10 and he can play a little bit. Didn’t start last year for his high school but has skill and can be molded into someone that contributes. Should see a lot of run this summer and gain some traction with colleges. He has a little bit of skill and should be in line for a strong summer.
Who Should Be Watching: LM-NAIA
This is a group with a lot of potential. Some of these guys could and should be getting D1 interest locally but some will be NAIA scholarship guys. There is a wide range of players on this roster and you’ll see that when they play this upcoming AAU season. There are a lot of really solid scorers here on this team and they should be able to fill it up quite nicely on the offensive side for coaches to see.
