- Sophomores took over 64 percent of the team’s shots last season
Fargo Davies
- held opponents to 36 percent shooting for the season which is outstanding
- forced opponents into 18 turnovers a night
- Davies was a bad three-point shooting team making only 29 percent and their best shooter Collin Larson graduated
- Returning senior Matt Veit led the team in rebounding, steals, and was second in assists not to mention he was the third leading scorer
- The Eagles graduated six of their top eight in minutes
Fargo North
- Out-rebounded their opponents by seven or eight a night a year ago
- Outscored opponents by two baskets a game on average but had a losing record
- NDSU committed Siman Sem shot 42 percent from the floor and 65 percent from the foul line
- New Coach Ted Critchley was 105-37 in his last five years at Roseville leading a team in one of the Twin Cities top leagues
- Point guard Kade Hoeg shot an outstanding 52 percent from the arc on 86 three point attempts
Fargo South
- They had two seniors last season
- Made only 27 percent of their three-pointers last year
- They had nearly twice as many turnovers (396) as assists (202) as a team
- Bucky Skiple was only eight points from being the only player on the team to average double figures
- More than half of their varsity rotation shot below 40 percent last season
GF Central
- Opponent took 279 more shots than the Knights last year. Tough to win that way
- Averaged almost 19 turnovers a game
- Aaron Knutson shot 43 percent from the floor, the rest of the team was in the 30s and 20s
- Taylor Parson was the only guy on the team with more assists than turnovers
- The average score of a GF Central game was opponent 69, Central 39
GF Red River
- They were five free throw makes from shooting 70 percent as a team at the foul line which is what coaches strive for
- Won the rebounding battle 38 to 26 every night on average. Massive edge.
- Produced almost 11 steals a game.
- Shooting percentages of returning players is excellent: Austin Slaughter (54%), Carson Dennis (46%), Mark Toe (55%), Braedan Hanson (48%), Paul Miller (66%)
- Shot 224 more free throws than their opponents
Fargo Shanley
- Had 80 more turnovers than assists
- As a freshman Cameron Saville made 49 percent of his attempts and 70 percent of his foul shots. Good first year numbers
- Shanley was 13-11 and they lost their top three scorers, rebounders, and assist leaders to graduation
- Scored 65.5 points per game, a solid total for the season
- Shot 68 percent from the foul line which isn’t bad but so much of the men to that led to that total are gone from the school.
Valley City
- Took 102 less foul shots than their opponents,
- Won the rebounding battle by three a game on average but…
- They had 136 more turnovers than assists
- Nate Rodriguez shot a ridiculous 52 percent from the arc on 72 treys
- Somebody that gets overlooked is Hi-Liner now junior Levi Nix who worked for eight points and six boards a game last season
Wahpeton
- They were 12-1 at home last season, a mark that will be tough to match for several years going forward
- 357 assists compared to 231 turnovers, excellent numbers across 26 games
- Carson Zarak is the only guy returning from last year that played 200 or more minutes
- Zarak led the team in assists, was second in steals, and fourth in scoring and rebounding
- Reed Albrecht did play 7-8 minutes a contest and also returns
West Fargo
- Won the nightly rebounding battle by nine a contest
- Averaged a dozen steals a game
- Creighton Pfau is the only returning player that averaged more than one shot per game
- Pfau shot 48 percent from the filed, 36 percent at the arc, and 70 percent at the foul line
- Tyson Jelinek didn’t play much but he did manage to get a shot up every 3.5 possessions when he played. He will likely be a starting frontcourt player
WF Sheyenne
- Shot only 57 percent from the foul line as a team meaning opponents could count on them missing 8-9 foul shots out of 19-20 a contest
- Won the nightly rebounding battle 31.4 to 29.6 a contest which is really impressive when you consider they had no seniors
- You don’t the top two rebounders on a team also be the top two three point shooters but that is what Eric Ringdahl and Gavin Moeller did at 40 percent and 38 percent from the arc respectively.
- Carter Bonnema and Andy Stephan are the only guys on the team to shoot better than 60 percent from the foul line.
- They were 8-3 at home but just 3-10 on the road.
