Continue ReadingThe Summer Slam event at the Pentagon was a huge event for Karsten Goehring, a point guard from Herreid/Selby high school and Dakota Niners basketball.
Karsten hit a game winner, created for others, made shots himself, and really caught the attention of PHD. We hope that at 5-foot-10 and very productive at a small school Karsten can grab some attention from the local college programs.
Karsten said “no, I haven’t been contacted by any schools yet” but it could come. Many of the locals go after their 5-6 roster additions more heavily during the year. Meanwhile, Karsten got on the radar with his play this summer.
“It helped a lot with my overall court sense and playing at a faster pace,” explained Goehring. “The competition level was higher which also made it a great experience. It helped me grow also in playing with new teammates. It was just a fun overall summer of basketball that also helped me improve my game.”
Herreid/Selby played a lot of basketball in the off-season and feel good about a winter run.
“I am very excited for the upcoming season,” Karsten said. “We return almost out entire team from last year which will give us a lot of experience and leadership.
“We had a really good showing this summer at league and team camps as well. The biggest challenge for our team will be staying focused and defending well.”
